July 30th is National Cheesecake Day, and Rhett knew that it was Kitty's favourite dessert, so he arranged to surprise her with some cheesecake, served in a romantic tent in the woods.... ....while he serenaded her on his lute.... Rhett had brought all Kitty's favourite flavours of cheesecake....cherry, blueberry, strawberry, and of course....chocolate..... "Come join me for some..."
Every day Facebook shows me 'Memories' of photos I've posted on that day in the past, and lately there's been so many great photos of several trips where I'd brought dolls along to photograph. And since I'm up to my ears prepping for the final two 'Special Days' this month, and processing photos for Baron and Naomi's story (which has taken on a mind of its own and just keeps on growing) I thought I'd just revisit some of those trips from years gone by. The last time we went on a trip was to Newfoundland in the early summer of 2019. I took along two sets of dolls, Rex and Bianca in the Outlander outfits, and a group of five modern children. It was the very first and only time that I took along some FIDs on a trip, before Covid got in the way, and cancelled everything. To revisit Rex and Bianca's adventures in Newfoundland, including their engagement and private wedding, just click on the photo below.... The five children also had a great time...(click on photo) Another great set of photos happened in the summer of 2017, when I took along several kids on a camping trip up to Kilarney....(link on photo) We all had so much fun that we went again a few weeks later....
I had originally wanted to take some photos of my Forest dwellers for National Hot Dog Day, which was back on July 21st, but the weather has been anything but cooperative this summer. It's either too hot and humid, or raining, with the rare break. So yesterday when the sun came out after the rain and dried things up, I thought it was then or never. I had originally envisioned Manny selling hot dogs along the boardwalk down by the lake, but as is often the case, the ideas changed as the days went by, and I decided to do something different.... Manny would be a hot dog vendor at the county fair.... ...and for a really festive atmosphere, Smuzhka would be handing out balloons....
Today, July 27th, is 'Take Your Houseplants for a Walk Day', so Holly wanted to give it a try.... Coco thought he'd join her.... but he could only fit two plants into his wagon.... But better three plants than none.... So off they went....
Jamie's family continued through the ruins.... Jamie and Bonnie thought the pillars would make a great place to hide.... "It's time to get back on your horses, so we can continue on our way...." And on they went....
I've spent the past few weeks shooting the scenes for Naomi and Baron's story, and am almost done. There are several places where Baron's back story is revealed, but I didn't want to just have people sitting there talking together. I felt that would be too boring just going back and forth between head shots. Instead I wanted to photograph the actual scenes being talked about. Which meant dozens of smaller photoshoots in many different times and locations. For one part of the story I needed dolls to represent Baron and Lawrence as young boys. Lawrence was easy. I chose David, since who else would better portray Lawrence than his own son? And then there was Lawrence's sister Grace. I had Nyssa standing in my work space as a costume model, plopped Grace's red wig on her, and there was my 'little Grace'. Baron was more challenging, as I only had three boys to choose from. I decided to go with Aaron, with a lighter brown wig. I only needed one or two photos of this particular scene for Baron's back story, but couldn't resist shooting several more. So here's a sneak peak at Lawrence, Baron and Grace as children. Baron and Lawrence are practicing their swordsmanship, while Grace is watching.... I love little Grace with her messy hair. Such a little Tomboy. I can see why she eventually ended up with Jude. Although when she was little she clearly had a crush on Baron.... I still have two more scenes to shoot for my story, but they are the final two scenes, so it won't be too long anymore before I can get back to where I left everyone hanging. There will be all kinds of unexpected twists and turns, captured in some really amazing photos - if I do say so myself. So stay tuned....
I've been wanting to take Jamie's family to the Guild Inn for some photos in the ruins, before they leave their 'barbarian' duds behind and travel a few centuries into the future.
I prefer to go early on a weekday when there's less people, but the weather hasn't been cooperating. It was supposed to be bright sunshine today, but it started out rather hazy, which is perfect for photos, so I packed everything up, and we headed on over. We arrived at 9, and were just the second car in the parking lot. Perfect! So we headed to my favourite spot first.... July 20th was Lollipop Day, and Cookie was handing them out to her friends.... She gave them to Eric and Elin to help hand them out....
