No sooner were they all ready for a group shot, but it started to rain...
Considering the terrible weather forecast this week, I really didn't feel like dressing all my dolls up and taking the same old photos as every other year - and in the rain - so decided to go the easy route, and let just my two newest girls go out, accompanied by Cinnamon and Tillie, along with some others who have never had the chance. No sooner were they all ready for a group shot, but it started to rain... I only managed a few quick shots before it started to rain too hard, and everyone had to rush back inside. With the heavy rain and strong winds expected all day, it won't be the best Halloween ever.
We decided to take one final drive to see the last of the fall colours earlier this week. The town of Schomburg was having a Scarecrow Festival all month, and we thought that might be interesting. There weren't all that many actual scarecrows, but combined with the Halloween displays, it did provide some fun photo opportunities..... This one with the little pink Princess Knight facing off against the dragon, was my favourite....
We've gone out several times the past few weeks, to enjoy the fall colours, and maybe find a place to take some doll photos. The photos in the previous postings with Rex and Bianca... ...were taken the same afternoon as the ones with Benny's family. Although not in the same place. When I was done, and Jan was supposed to be helping me clean up, he decided to pose the dolls in the back of the car.... So I took a photo. Then he came up with the idea of having Efreet gathering the pumpkins, with the barn in the background. But we were too close to the barn to shoot down on the ground. So Jan suggested posing him on the hood of the car. Not exactly the flattest place, but okay, I'd give it a try. But it was so incredibly windy, that the leaves kept on blowing away...... Plus the leaves were hugely out of scale. But I took some photos anyways.... ...and from a different angle with the sun on him.... And while I'm on the topic of 'behind the scenes', there's a few photos from much earlier in the month that I've not shared yet. It was the afternoon I set up the Fairy gathering on the patio steps. I asked Jan to make some small posing adjustments, and took a photo.... Then I needed to get a new battery from inside the house, so he sat and kept guard in case any curious birds or squirrels decided to mess with my dolls.... I had been sitting on that bench taking my photos. The dolls were slightly elevated, so if I sat far enough back, I wouldn't have to get down on the ground....
Rex and Bianca were strolling through the woods.... Rex thought he spotted something in the woods, and when he turned around, Bianca was gone... She'd run off to hide.... But Rex was an expert tracker.... "There you are!" "So, what was that all about?" "Just having a bit of fun..."
Later that day, the kids had gone off to play, and Steve went back to see Iris. She had gotten out of bed, and was sitting in the rocking chair, cradling the sleeping baby.... "I'm so relieved that everything went so well..." "Do you think I could hold her?" "We need to decide on her name." "Well.....I've been thinking of Francina Elizabeth, after our two favourite aunts..." "That's a lovely name, and I love. it...but it seems like such a big name for such a little girl....." "We can call her 'Sena' for short....." "Good night, little Sena..." *The baby's sculpt name is 'Sena', and I prefer to stick with sculpt names whenever they sound reasonable. I looked it up, and 'Sena' is a girl's name of Arabic, Hindi, and African origin, meaning "this world's beauty or grace; to praise; bringing heaven to earth". Seems perfect!
It was a beautiful fall day, and Benny's family was heading out to get some pumpkins. It was still a bit chilly, so everyone had to put on their sweaters.... Efreet was excited, and got busy collecting pumpkins into his wagon.... Benny thought it was the perfect opportunity for some family portraits.... They had taken their bikes on the bike rack on the back of their car, but they still had to bring the pumpkins to the car. "How are we going to manage this?" "We can put some in my wagon and tie it to the back of one of our bikes..." "We don't want it on the back of our bikes!" "I think it better go on the back of mine," said Benny, thinking that would be the safest. Good thing they didn't have far to go. "We just need to haul them to the far parking lot and load them into the car...."
I've been getting so many requests from people on Facebook asking how I make my hard cap wigs, that I finally sat down and put the tutorials together. I had already taken all the photos when I made David and Phairby's wigs back in the spring. So here they are..... One important thing to remember is that making a nice wig requires a lot of artistic decisions that are impossible to explain, and a lot depends on the curl of the mohair one is using. I am also no hair stylist. I just took photos of how I made some wigs, and tried to explain it as best as I could. I have not covered how to make a part, since it's not something I'm even comfortable with myself yet, although I did try something new with Baron's wig that might seem promising. So, maybe some day instructions for a part will get added.
Anyways, there you go! And best of luck! With the colours of autumn quickly coming to an end, Rex and Bianca decided to take one more ride through the woods....
Steve invited the children in to meet their new little sister.... "Awww...she's so cute! ....I think she likes me!" But Eric was a bit hesitant to get closer. He wasn't used to seeing his Mom in bed, and had been very worried... Iris motioned for him to come closer... "Go ahead. Go see your new little sister...." "She would really like to meet her big brother..." The baby turned to look at him..... "I think she likes me!"
