Last Day of the Year

12/31/2022

Well, that's another year in the rear-view mirror!  It sure went by fast!

I did take some new photos to post for today, but then my computer decided to act up, and I'm not able to download my photos or process them.  And we are too busy to really look into the problem, since today is also our granddaughter's birthday.  It's always the biggest family get-together of the entire Holiday season.

She's turning 15 and asked if we could make a volleyball themed cake. So we did...

So, we are off to her party, and hopefully things will get fixed with my computer and I can post again tomorrow.

Happy New Year!

Play Time

It's approaching a year since the two little Myou twins arrived to become toddlers in a story that's nowhere near ready for them yet.  The little girl, who I named Fiona, was able to borrow one of Sena' outfits, but the boy (either Daniel or Ian) remained in his undies in his box.  Until now.

I decided that he deserved to get something to wear so he could come and play with the two little girls. So I made him a top and some pants...

So now he gets to join in all the fun...

Walking the Dog

And now for something totally different. It's been almost six years since Lawrence arrived, and during that time he's rarely ever been a 'modern' guy, other than a short stint in a tuxedo when he first arrived, and then as Dr. Grant in a Jurassic Park photo shoot. Monica had also never been in casual modern clothes.   So I thought it was time that Lawrence and Monica experienced life in the modern world. Of course, I don't have much in the way of contemporary Fashion sized clothes, so they had to borrow Baron and Naomi's outfits to go out and take their dog for a walk in the snow...

Party Girls

12/27/2022

I don't usually like unfinished projects lying around, but there were two little party dresses that had been started way back in 2015, the year I started throwing birthday parties for all my small dolls. There was a pink satin bolero jacket and a black velveteen bodice taking up space in my BID Patterns envelope, and every time I had to look for a pattern I'd think that I really needed to finish those two dresses. So I finally did...

Byuri was busy making a popcorn chain for the tree....

...and she was almost done....

...when her brother Aaron came in...

"I thought I smelled popcorn..."
Picture
"Do you mind if I eat some?"
Picture
"Well, I'm almost done, and if you help me put this up in the tree, then you can eat all the leftovers."

Christmas Cookies

The house was dark and quiet, with the stockings hung from the fireplace...
Picture
When, in the wee hours of the morning, who should appear...
Picture
...but Santa, with his sack full of gifts.
Picture
But not everyone was sound asleep....
Picture
Picture
"I knew you would come..."

"So I helped Mom make your favourite cookies..."

Picture
"Well, let's try some then..."
Picture
And they sat down together....

...eating cookies...

...and chatting a while...

"Well, I still have a lot of other houses to go to...."
Picture
"so I can't stay..."

So he helped tuck the boy in....
Picture
...put on his mitts, and picked up his sack...
Picture
"It's been wonderful to see you again."

"Until next year then..."

"And thank you so much for the milk and cookies!"

"They really are my favourite!"

"Merry Christmas!"

Christmases Past

12/23/2022

Why does time fly so fast?  Every year I have big plans, but then Christmas arrives and I'm not ready for it, and my favourite holiday photo stories end up get taken afterwards. This year is no different.  On Facebook I get daily 'Memories' popping up that I can share, but not here on my Blog.  So I thought I'd just share some of the Christmas posts from the past.

Christmas 2016

That year my Mom passed away a few days before Christmas so I didn't get around to shooting Christmas photos until after the New Year...

Santa at the Mall in 2017

That year I had to go for unexpected major surgery in mid December, with just two weeks notice. I had wanted to do a story with my newly completed Santa, so set up a 'mall' set on my dining room table, and spent the last few days leading up to my surgery photographing a different group of dolls every day, saving worried little Ringo to the end....

Santa at the North Pole, 2018

Christmas During Covid, 2020

I was in the process of photographing the scenes for my upcoming Christmas Story, and didn't have a lot of time for much else.  But I did take advantage of the gingerbread village we made with our son and daughter-in law for her birthday....

Christmas Stories 2022

Like most years, the best Christmas stories are photographed and posted after the holidays are over, and last Christmas was no exception. So January 2022 started out with 2 Christmas stories...

Christmas at the Castle

Baron and Naomi were invited to spend Christmas with Lawrence and Monica's family...

A Forest Dweller Christmas

I received a shipping notice for the chipmunks and gray mice in mid November, and had wanted to do a Christmas story after they arrived, but they took six weeks to come, and finally arrived on New Year's Eve.  And then they still needed some clothes.  So another 'late' Christmas story....

I hope you enjoy looking back, and revisiting some of these stories from past years. I sure did. Although they also make me feel exhausted knowing just how much work they all were. I don't know if I still have the stamina anymore. But I guess we'll see. It's just two days until Christmas Day, but the Christmas season is far from over. Maybe there's still time to be inspired?

Yes Layla, There is a Santa Claus

Layla had insisted she sleep on the sofa in the living room, so she could watch and see if Santa would really come. Then shortly after midnight she woke to a noise...
Picture
...and what to her wondering eyes should appear...
Picture
...but Santa....
Picture
She could barely believe her eyes...
Picture
...and he was way too busy to even notice that he was being watched.
Picture
When he was done, he headed for the cookies and milk that were on the table right on front if her..

She quickly pulled the afghan over her head to hide...
