Computer Problems

8/31/2019

Sometimes I hate computers!!   All week I've been having so many problems with emails and notifications. Stuff isn't coming through, and if it is, it often comes over and over again.  I was also getting occasional fake 'virus' pop-ups when I'd open threads on resin cafe.  I'd get emails about some Facebook comments, but not others.  Some days I wouldn't get any emails when people commented on my website, and other days I just kept getting certain ones over and over, while not getting others from the same post.  I don't hear back from people I expected to hear from. - their emails are probably not getting through.  I even got a 'friend request' from someone on facebook, and there was a whole long series of conversations between some of my family members in it (!?!?). I have no idea what is going on, and have contacted my son, whose my IT guy. But of course, I never got his response (he did send one) I've tried restarting my computer but nothing helps. Stuff just keeps getting worse.

So I tried again today, and he said there are over 400 messages in my inbox, yet only 100 are actually showing up on my computer.  And now I'm having problems with Photoshop too. None of the tools I usually use are working. I can't even crop.   And all this is happening just when I finally made the decision to photograph all my extra wigs so I could put them up for sale to coincide with Resin Cafe's virtual conference this weekend. So far I've photographed 40 wigs, but I can't even work with the photos, plus who says I'd even get someone's email if they were interested in some of the wigs, so I guess that's not even worth continuing until this mess gets sorted out.

Maybe I better just get back to my knitting, and work on those fairy costumes!!

Fairy Costumes

I decided Mini Missy needed a Fairy costume so she could hang out with her tiny sisters. I had wanted to do a fairy photos shoot this summer, but had to wait for Missy to arrive before I could make her a fairy outfit.  I had read on Facebook where someone said that Kaye's Mini dolls are roughly the same size as Iplehouse KIDs, and that they can share clothes. But it's a good thing I waited, because the two are really quite different. So unless one doesn't care about a loose fit, both dolls need clothes designed specially for them.

I'm hoping one day to get another Mini, so am making two Mini size fairy outfits right up front, as well as two for my KID girls, since they don't have fairy costumes either....

I like to embellish the necklines with tiny cloth flowers, but my stock is running low on certain colours, and this size flower is no longer available in stores.  So I had to dye some with diluted acrylic paint. The purple ones started out pink, and the blue ones started out white. Each tiny flower had to be individually stained....

Teddy Bear Tea Party

Two of our granddaughters continue to come most Saturday mornings, and today one of them brought her doll. She likes when I take doll photos, and let her choose some, which I print out for her to take home and put into her album. Her dolls as wearing a party dress, so we had a little tea party out in the garden with some of my old bears....

I come up with the basic idea, choose the furniture, and let Rachel choose all the props, and then she sets them up....

the Engineer's Garden

In Louisbourg, the most opulent home belonged to the Engineer. His house was bigger and nicer than even the Governor's. One entered his property through a big stone gate....

Comparing

Earlier this month someone wanted to know how one of my 'Outlander' inspired outfits would fit a Raccoon doll, and since Bianca has two outfits, and Monica was just standing around, I thought I'd try one on her to see.

The outfits were designed to fit my Bianca, who has the slim FID body, with medium bust, and has heel feet.  My Monica has the slim Raccoon body, with small bust, and has her heel feet inside flat boots. Raccoon ladies are a little shorter, and are slimmer than an Iplehouse Slim FID, but the outfit did fit - sort of. The waistbands on the petticoat and skirt were rather wide, and the bodice was a bit loose, so I pulled the lacing tighter, but not nearly as tight as her smaller torso wanted...

...but on the whole, quite passable......

....so, Monica can wear it, but it is a loose fit....

*Edited to add a comparison photo of their bodies. Raccoon Monica is the slim body, and is wearing high heels. Bianca is the slim FID, and has flat feet.  You can see that Monica has a much slimmer waist, but much wider hips.....

Most of the homes in Louisbourg did not have ovens, so Bianca had to go to the bakery every few days for some fresh bread....
