Another Photo Shoot

4/30/2019

I changed Rex and Bianca this morning so they'd be wearing something different for the next photo session. I gave Bianca her original pink gown back, and put Owen's Musketeer outfit on Rex.  He's quite a bit taller than Owen, and the pants and sleeves are too short, but with tall boots, and wrist guards it doesn't matter. The only thing that doesn't work is the hat, since Owen has a much bigger head. But I'll bring it along, and someone can always hold it.

I first posed them at home so I wouldn't have to think too hard out in the field.
The room turns into a total dump with all the things I had to get out....

Rex works really well on the horse. It's an our Generation Morgan Horse.
Looking at them from another angle....

I'm hoping I'll be able to recreate this little scene....

Today we went down to the lake. It's considerably colder down there, so the scillas bloom at least a week later than they do on the townline, so that gives me extra time for more photos, especially when the weather isn't exactly cooperating.

We have to carry everything from the car, along the trail, over the bridge high over Petticoat Creek, and along the cliff tops into the Conservation area. There's a section at the edge of the woods there, where the scillas have naturalized, and bloom in a giant blue carpet every spring.

I chose a section under the sumacs, where there aren't too many dog-strangling vines. I brought along an old blanket to sit on, since it's been raining a lot lately, and the ground isn't dry.
Picture
Rex and Bianca pose in the flowers, and I take a LOT of photos. It's going to take me a while to process them all, but here's one....

....and another.....

After I'm done, Jan went into the flowers to retrieve the horse, and dolls....

So now I have my work cut out for me....processing more photos....

Fairies in the Meadow

I envisioned my Miho as a Fairy Queen, in the scillas with some younger fairies. I felt that I couldn't use my smaller Iplehouse dolls because their heads are too big out of scale with her's, so opted for my three Kaye Wiggs tinies, who have smaller heads, the same size as her's....

Lily and the Peacock

I finally took some photos with the peacock needlepoint that my sister did for me. She was working on it when I was shooting the Victorian pillow story, but it was a lot of work, and came too late. Plus I didn't really want it to be part of the Victorian pillow collection anyways. It was always meant to go in a blue 'peacock' room, with the blue velvet sofa my granddaughters gave me.

Anyways, I've had it for quite a while already, and haven't made it into a pillow yet, because I was waiting to photograph it as a needlepoint 'under construction' by someone. But who???

So today I finally set up a little scene, and got down on the floor to take photos....

..of Lily and the peacocks...

Easter Egg Hunt

I had the idea of having Willie and Winston hunting for Easter eggs among the flowers....

But it was proving too challenging, and I wasn't really happy with them, so didn't take any more

Baby Sena

Little Baby Sena from SupiaDoll arrived yesterday. She is my Christmas gift from Jan. I had wanted to keep her arrival 'secret' until after she was painted, but the artist sent along so may free gifts that I just had to take some photos to share anyways...
Picture
Baby Sena is just 15 cm tall, and will be joining my Victorian family once she's painted....
Picture
The artist sent along several gifts - the little pink tutu, and a bunch of Korean treats....
Picture
My Sena will be a 'baby', as opposed to a toddler, so I created an 'ultra-sound' to announce her expected upcoming arrival....hopefully at some point in the not-too-distant future....
Picture
(I know they didn't have ultra-sounds back in the Victorian days, but who cares??)

A New Wig for Isis

4/24/2019

I finally finished the new wig for Isis. The wig she had been wearing was never intended to be worn with the top tied back, and the hair that was left in the back seemed way too thin and sparse. I  wanted something with the top pulled back into a little 'bun', and with more hair cascading down in the back, so decided to make her a new wig that was actually made to be styled that way......
Picture
On first glance, it might look just like the wig she has been wearing, and that's because this one is made from the same mohair, so has the exact same colour and wave. I even added little tendrils for 'bangs'. I had thought at first to curl her hair into ringlets, but decided against it, and just left it all cascading loosely down her back, giving her more of a 'romantic', less formal look...
Picture
Picture
I took photos as I made the wig, so now there's three wigs I've taken photos of, in order to turn into wig-making tutorials. Eventually.

I picked up some nice resin geese recently, and they seemed to like all the flowers. But Paige and Nami decided to try chase them out of there, and keep them from eating any....
