The swords are made out of nails, which he transforms in his blacksmith shop, into beautiful miniature weapons. Lonnie is holding a 7.75" sword.....
Managed to take a couple of quick photos of my Lonnie this morning on my rock pile. Mason Leggee sent we a shipment of small swords two weeks ago, and I've not been able to take photos. My dolls were all out of reach due to the renovations.
The swords are made out of nails, which he transforms in his blacksmith shop, into beautiful miniature weapons. Lonnie is holding a 7.75" sword..... Today we are working on bringing everything back into the freshly painted old 'living room'. I've wanted most of my BJDs in the display cases along with my favourite old art dolls. I lost one whole shelf on one side in order to accommodate my larger dolls. They've been stored out of sight, and out of light for ages now, so it's nice to finally be able to see them. Dolls are constantly switching places. The old Porcelain repros have moved into the dining room china cabinet, and the Kaye Wiggs MSDs have taken their place. There's still a lot of dolls on my dining room table that need a spot, so I'll see where they all go.
One thing for sure, the new lighting is vastly superior to the old fluorescent tubes at the top and bottom. The only 'negative' thing about these new LED lights is that they have a faint bluish-green glow, and that gives many of the doll's faces a slightly greenish tint. Oh well. I guess I can't have everything. With all the bows and arrows under construction, I feel like a regular 'weapons factory'. The arrows are all glued into their quivers, and the bows are being covered with Apoxie. I can only do a small section at a time, otherwise there's no place to hold onto. My containers are getting very low, and I hope I have enough. I Googled "Aves Apoxie in Canada" to find local sources, and apparently Michaels carries it - but not ours of course. Our Michaels is a small store and rarely has what I'm looking for. I better phone the Michaels in Whitby and Oshawa to see if they have it.
It's been difficult to be creative with my computer room under renovations. Hopefully it will get finished this coming weekend. I've been trying to work on the bows and arrows for my fantasy folk, but it's going very slow. The bows are shaped out of wire and wrapped, but I really, really, really, don't like working with Aves Apoxie, so I haven't even started sculpting any of them yet. I also had an ear infection all week, and just as it's almost gone I'm getting the flu. Perfect! Like construction isn't enough to mess with what I want to do.
Anyway, I just got the worst part of thirty arrows done - the gluing of the paper 'feathers' onto the shafts. It's the first step in creating a realistic-looking arrow, but it's also the step I like least. Three quivers are almost finished and just need the leather straps..... Yesterday was my youngest granddaughter Natalya's birthday. She turned seven, and Marianne made her a wonderful cake - of her favourite Ponies - what else? But when it came time to light the candles, there were no matches to be found anywhere,
so my son got out his trusty blow torch..... Last month, I spent many evenings happily crocheting a tiny 'Granny Square' afghan out of needle-punch yarn. The squares themselves worked up very quickly, but then it seemed to take forever to weave in all the loose ends. But now it's done..... It's the perfect thing for some cozy reading on a cool summer evening..... ...and for snuggling up with a friend.....
I've put up a new free pattern Tutorial for making fairy costumes with removable, press-on wings. Just click on image below. Patterns are for all four sizes of my smallest dolls; Iplehouse BIDs and KIDs, and both sizes of Kaye Wiggs Tinies. So now you can make your own Fairy Gathering....
Ever since I started making little birthday cakes for my dolls, people have been asking how I do it. Well, wait no more! I've put together a Miniature Cake Tutorial, so you can make your own...
Tillie was so impressed with the cake Cinnamon had made for her, she could hardly believe her little sister had made it all by herself.... "I can't believe you made it for me! Thank you so much!" "Come pose with me for a picture.." Several of Tillie's friends came, and they all had a wonderful time...
Tillie had her birthday party today. She looked so pretty in the new blue lace dress I had
made for her. And she LOVED her cake! She happily posed for a couple of birthday portraits... |
