Yesterday was my youngest granddaughter Natalya's birthday. She turned seven, and Marianne made her a wonderful cake - of her favourite Ponies - what else? But when it came time to light the candles, there were no matches to be found anywhere,
so my son got out his trusty blow torch.....

Did the pony survive the candle lighting? That's a great photo, and the expressions on the girls' faces are priceless! Birthday parties in your family are colourful, fun events by the looks.

Nick is very skilled with his tools, but it was a good thing all those candles were all in a row so close together!

Marianne makes incredible cakes! Of course it also helps that she was/is an incredible sculptor. It's just these days fondant and gum paste are her sculpting mediums of choice.

It's just too funny! I thought for sure he'd burn something with that big torch - but no.
