With their stomachs settled, the girls were all set to help out the others with decorating their gingerbread house. Lonnie started by showing them how to squirt out the icing with the pastry bag, while Byuri and Erzulie sorted out the candies for decorating... Erzulie wanted to give the icing a try.... while Elin placed the silver filagrees..... Then Erzulie gave Byuri some tips..... All in all, they did a great job. Your insides feeling like they are going to explode from all that sugar? Well, today is "National Bicarbonate of Soda Day". Some of my girls have been completely over-indulging, so I made them each a big glass of bicarbonate of soda to help them feel better. After all, the Holidays aren't even nearly over yet. Tomorrow is New Year's Eve, and another big party, and it all tastes so good going down....
Byuri is working hard making paper chains for Peach and Bonnie to hang in the tree.... Their tree is coming along nicely, as more and more decorations are getting hung on it. They can't go outside to play as it's become quite some mess out there. The temperature is up above zero and all the ice and snow from Christmas is melting off the trees. Ice is falling everywhere, and the trees are straightening back up - which is great to see. So, even though normally when it's this "warm" it would be the perfect time to go out and make snowmen, they can't because of all the falling ice.
Today I have to start the stuffed caterpillar toy for my next grandson's mobile. I've been putting it off for weeks, and am running out of time, so today I really have to get started. Today is "Card Playing Day" and the girls are having a friendly game of "Crazy Eights". Well, maybe not so friendly. They all desperately want to win and are not above cheating.
We received quite a bit of snow on top of all our ice on Christmas Day, so I thought it was time to take some of my other dolls out for some snow photos. Here's Kassia, beautiful all in white...
Last night Lonnie and Nami went to check out the Christmas lights on Ilona Park Rd. There's
two houses there that go totally over the top every year. The girls absolutely loved it! Some of my girls decided to take advantage of the Boxing Day sales today. I decided that, because I wasn't feeling well until just a week before Christmas, and then we were hit with the big ice storm, that I lost so much time that my dolls were short-changed on their Christmas celebrations. Their tree wasn't decorated, their gifts weren't wrapped, they never had a chance to make gingerbread houses, and they didn't get a chance to hang up their stockings. So this year I'm going to do the "Twelve Days of Christmas" thing, with a build up to Epiphany on January 6th, and let them celebrate on Orthodox Christmas instead. They were thrilled to hear it, and rushed off to the mall to buy gifts for each other. With everything being on super sale today, they found some great bargains.
Today is Boxing Day in Canada, the day everyone rushes out to look for big bargains and buy all the things they wanted for Christmas but didn't get. Especially electronics. It's also Candy Cane Day. "Which stripes taste best, the red or the white ones?"
Woke to a gorgeous sunrise, so quickly took a few photos through our ice-covered magnolia tree. Then a few more as the sun shone golden through the trees.... I have never, ever, experienced a Christmas morning such as this.
