The table was set, the food was ready, and everyone gathered for Christmas dinner. Oma presented the turkey Everyone complimented Oma on the turkey. Mama: "Everything looks wonderful, Mom." Oma: "There's lots of food, so help yourself" "Okay, who wants a leg?"
January 31st is 'Inspire Your Heart with Art' Day, and what could be more appropriate than a look back at the art classes held last January and February... To see the entire series - the Art Studio
Mama was surprised when Papa presented her with a huge gift. Papa: “I found something really special for you, dear!!” Mama was shocked!
Papa: “I got you every colour of thread, so now you’ll be able to mend all of our clothes, no matter what colour it is!!” Next up to bat was Nami..... Would she hit it or not?? But she swung wide.... "Okay, who's wants to try next??"
Just a few more pictures of Kassia, since they all turned out so nice, it's hard not to show more. I especially love the way the wind is catching her hair....
Erzulie was the first one to try her hand at the piñata... but swing as she might, she did not hit the unicorn... As everyone watched in anticipation..... "Three swings and then it's the next person's turn!!" But she didn't hit it.... "Okay, whose next!!"
At nap time the babies all wanted their new teddies, so Mama had to get creative as to how to fit them all into the cradle.
I had to take advantage of yesterday's snowstorm to take the photo I'd envisioned of Kassia and the animals (which I'd made her wings for) and before the deep freeze settles back in tonight for the rest of the week. But with roads still impassible, I had to find somewhere on my own property. The cedar hedge along the north side seemed about right, so I hauled out the slide-projector stand, put a board on top, and shovelled some snow onto it. Then posed Kassia and her friends... I had to shovel some spaces into Jan's snow piles, so I could take photos from a better angle, and I had to pay attention that the horse especially, wasn't right in front of a really snowy part of the hedge, since I wanted him to stand out. Then I snapped photos until my hands got too painful from the cold, and I had to take everything back inside. But the resulting pictures were well worth it.....
Presenting Kassia, the Snow Fairy, with her new wings..... Then it was time to open the gifts. Mama gave her husband a brand new set of mixing bowls Oma gave Opa some more new tools.. "Maybe later you could use them to fix something for me" Mama gave her mom a new coffee maker... "It's perfect! We can try it out after dinner. Which reminds me, I better go check on things." Papa got his dad a new engine and rail cars for his train set.. "Thank you Son. This is the best Christmas ever!"
When we were at Party City two weeks ago, looking for candles for the Phantom photo shoot, I spotted a tiny unicorn piñata. Effie's birthday was coming up, and I was always on the lookout for something unique for the next birthday party, and this seemed perfect. Plus I thought it was funny to imagine a group of beautifully dressed little girls beating the candies out of a piñata! "Look, my Mom got us a Unicorn piñata!" "She's filled it with candies, and is going to hang it up..." "..and then we'll take turns getting blindfolded, to try hit it and spill all the candies out.." "Mom says that because it's my party, I should go last. So who wants to go first?"
