the Art Studio Inspiration
My sister painted a series of tiny paintings with the intention that they could 'rotate' being hung on the wall above the fireplace that Jan made in November. However, I thought they were too nice to just have them show up from time to time in the background of room settings, and decided instead to start at the 'beginning' and have one of my dolls be the artist, and have her at work in her studio, possibly even giving art lessons, then having a 'public' art show, where several of my doll families would take some of the paintings home to hang in their own homes.
These are the seven little paintings my sister gave me for Christmas. They were all done with acrylics, using only a palette knife, and are all based on my own photos, taken over the years - colourful tulips, Delicate Arch in Utah, Moraine Lake in Banff, and my dolls.

Artist Narae
I chose my Butterfly Narae to be the artist, because I needed a doll to 'represent' my sister, and I knew she liked this Narae. I couldn't resist taking a few photos of her in her new outfit, and looking through her paintings. Like she was sorting them, getting ready for an art show.....
the New Studio
Narae got the keys to her studio that morning, and started bringing some things over....
Narae wanted to paint the walls, so that had to be done first, before she moved anything else in.
Painting the Studio
Narea decided that an art studio was too messy a place for pristine white walls....
....so she decided to paint the lower walls a nice pale gray....
the Apron Rack
Narae was planning to hold art classes, so needed a rack for all the art aprons...
She was anticipating a lot of students, and they'd need a place to hang their aprons back up....
Then she brought in some of her still life props and paintings that she'd started....
...and she hung up all the aprons....
Paintings & Canvases
Next, Narae brought all her canvases and paintings she was working on, into her new studio....
There was a lot of work to do, moving from her old studio space into the new one.
All the bins with art supplies needed to be unpacked and everything put away....
Narae was putting the finishing touches on a huge Alphabet art piece she finally had room for....
When it was finished, she found a good place to hang it...
"It fits perfectly here..."
