Walking Together

11/30/2019

Steve and Iris were taking a leisure walk through the park....
Picture
"It's so nice that Lisa can watch Sena for a bit so we can have a little time together...."
Picture
"It's so nice to be alone, just the two of us..."

Suddenly remembering they were in a public place, Iris quickly adjusted her hat....

...and they continued on their walk....

Studio Photos

After three long weeks of struggling, and often redoing stuff, my Lawrence and Baron are finally finished.  Yay!  So down to the studio they went for some photos....
Picture
I had first made Baron a black cloak, which just fit out of the last piece of black crinkle gauze and the last bit of trim.  But it turned out way too long, even though I had measured carefully.  It also looked too much like Lawrence's (except for his fur). So I tried some other colours, and this dull blue (it's actually a lot duller than in the photos) was the only one that looked good with his outfit. So I made it up, and it also ended up too long.  So I cut the bottoms off of both cloaks and hand-hemmed them a second time - a whole two metres along the bottoms of each.

Baron can actually hold his sword since it's lightweight aluminum,
made by Vaughan Tyrer many years ago...

I'm really happy with Lawrence.  It's taken almost three years, and several times during that period I was tempted to give up and try sell him. Now I'm so glad I didn't....
Picture
Lawrence can't hold his sword. It's forged from a steel nail by Mason Leggee, and is way too heavy. You'd think with Lawrence having the 'Muscle' body, he'd be stronger, but no, apparently not.

So now that they are both finished, I can start to focus on new stuff, and hopefully some Christmas things, while I wait for some suitable weather to photograph them in outside.

It will probably be the new year before I can continue with the rest of their Fantasy group, as well as the two Raccoon ladies.  Assuming I'm not tempted to continue sooner. Monica and Rosie would likely be first, then the three aGatti dolls - the Dwarf King and the two Feegles. There's also a DreamHigh Studio Gnome that I initially wanted to ride on a new dragon, but I'm not sure if I'll actually do him or not. Dragons are a TON of work!

Redhead Rosie

I looked online everywhere but no one had the Ellowyne Rose wig in stock in any colour. One of my Naraes has an auburn one, but it was a bigger size. I tried it on for looks, and decided that was definitely the colour for Rosie. So I stole it off Narae, made it smaller, gave it to Rosie, and gave Narae her original mohair wig back.
Picture
While I was at it, I also switched out Rosie's eyes to a light blue.....
Picture
...I like how this wig helps soften her angular features.....
Picture
Picture
I realize that the glow from the Christmas lights makes her hair look even redder than it really is, but I love this colour on her. So she will stay a redhead.
Picture
Now all she needs is an outfit.  I'm thinking something 'Warrior Princess' with leather and chainmail, and of course at some point something more 'feminine'.  However Monika was next in line to get a costume, and my wrist really needs a rest from the leather and chainmail. I'll see how things go, and what inspiration hits. But first I need to make some elf hats for the grandkids.

Waking Sena

Peach, who was an only child, had no idea what 'babysitting' actually meant. She had imagined a pleasant afternoon playing with a happy, bouncing baby, and was getting rather fed up with just standing around while Baby Sena slept....
Picture
Lisa was experienced, so was quietly reading her book....
Picture
"I thought we'd be able to play with her, but all she does is sleep!"
Picture
Picture
Being rather anxious to play with the baby, Peach decided to take matters into her own hands.....
Picture
Picture
....and reached into the cradle and lifted out the sleeping baby....who immediately started to scream......."WAAAAAAAAH!!!!"
Picture
"Hey!  What are you doing!?!?"     "WAAAAAAAAA!!!!"
Picture
"You can't just wake her up like that!!"
Picture
"WAAAAAAAA!!!!!"   "Help!  What do I do now??"  "WAAAH!!"

Trying Some Wigs

11/28/2019

I decided to play around with some different wigs on Rosie.  I do like her as a blonde, but the Monique wigs are way too bouffant, especially with her fine features. They make her look like a 'Barbie'. So I thought just for fun to try on Lawrence's short wig, which was just lying in my workspace, and I thought it looked rather cute - like a modern business woman.....
Picture
I think the short style really suits her, but it's not the look I was going for.....
Picture
So I tried Baron's wig on her....
Picture
Interesting, but still not the look I was going for. Way too 'modern'.....
Picture
Then I tried Bianca's Ellowyne Rose wig on her....
Picture
I like this style best for what I had in mind for her, but had wanted her to be a blonde.  So I pulled out a blonde Ellowyne Rose wig in a bigger size - to see how the colour looked.....
Picture
I realize this wig is way too big, but I'm thinking I actually prefer the brown.
Looks like Rosie is going to prove very picky.

Sleeping Baby

Baby Sena was sound asleep....
Picture
Peach kept going over to check on her....
Picture
"This is really boring!  Does she ever do anything other than sleep??"
Picture
"No, she'll wake up when she's ready.  Just go find something to do. There's lots of interesting books over on the shelves..."

Introducing Rosie

11/26/2019

Back in August when RaccoonDoll had their big anniversary sale, I ordered 'Steeze Rosie', as a potential girlfriend for Baron.  She arrived yesterday.

Of course I didn't have anything for her to wear, other than the white dressing gown set, so that's what I put on her. I've always imagined her as a blonde....
Picture
I had asked Raccoon not to paint the black line between her lips - to use a lighter brown - which they did.  She's very beautiful, although I see from the photos that her left eye needs to be moved a touch.

Anyways, it was clear right away that Baron was totally smitten....
Picture
...and she with him. Although what girl can resist a handsome knight??

First Time Babysitting

11/25/2019

Iris and Steve hadn't been able to go out anywhere together, just the two of them, since Baby Sena arrived. So one nice afternoon she decided she'd like to go out for a little walk to get some fresh air, without the kids.

Lisa had seemed able enough to handle the baby, and she had her friend Peach over to help, so it seemed like a good opportunity....
Picture
"I just put Sena down for her nap, so she should sleep for at least an hour or two...."
Picture
That's fine Mom.  I've looked after her many times before when you were busy."
Picture
"We won't be gone long...."
Picture
"We'll be fine Mom..."
Picture
"Just go...."

A New Wig

11/24/2019

I spent much of the the day stressing over a new wig for Lawrence. As much as I like his default wig, I found that his head looked so small on his super wide shoulders, and thought maybe longer hair would help fill him out some.   Plus I wanted something more suited to a medieval nobleman.  So I sewed fringes from the same mohair as his first wig....
Picture
After gluing it all on the wig cap, and doing some styling, I wrapped his wig to let it dry....
Picture
I spent some time fussing with the wig, and even though it looked good in real life, it didn't want to photograph all that well.
Picture
Picture
Then the wind caught him.....
Picture
Picture
I did like that windswept look....
Picture
Anyways, it will probably get fussed over a bit more, but at least both wigs are the same mohair, so he can have a choice - ragged barbarian, or more clean cut noble.
