Dull Photos

7/31/2017

I've been frustrated lately because so many of the photos in my Blog are appearing with such dull, green overtones.  It seems the horizontal images are appearing in the proper colours, but the vertical ones just aren't right. They are lacking the bright colour of the horizontal photos. To me they look like badly 'colourized' photos.

I know in the past that any photos that were too big a file size would show up in that dull green way, or if I edited the photo's size right here in Weebly, they would lose their nice colour too.

But all my verticals have been showing up correctly for several years now. Weebly must have changed something. I even tried making the verticals the same pixel height as the horizontal photos, but they still turned out the same duller colour with green undertones.

I know it's not my photos, as they post perfectly on Facebook. I don't know what to do about it at this point, and I'm hoping this is just a temporary thing, as it would be a real shame if the vertical photos stayed this way.

Update:  I figured out a way to get my photos to come out the correct colour - at least on my monitor - so have been replacing all the vertical photos with larger versions.

Moving to a Drier Site

With the weather improving, it was time to move everything to a drier campsite.
They found the perfect spot on the edge of our own new campsite. All the
bedding was piled on the picnic table, and the trailer was moved....

The boys were trying to position the tent....

...but they needed a bit more help....

The younger girls were trying to deal with the damp bedding....

Behind the Scenes

Before moving on the better weather days, I thought I'd share some behind the scenes shots from the soggy campsite. The photos taken in town, in the previous post, were actually taken in the rain, but setting up a camping scene was impossible in the pouring rain, so we did it the next day.

The pictures of the soggy campsite were taken the day after all the heavy rain - when it was actually sunny out. With lots of big puffy white clouds. I did the basic set up, then sat on a bench on the opposite side of this particular flooded area - with the telephoto lens on my camera - and I directed Jan to make any small adjustments.......... and then we'd wait for a big cloud to pass in front of the sun and cast everything in shade......so it would look like a proper rainy day.
Picture
He insisted on building a proper campfire in the water.....while I sat and waited.....
Picture
Then he decided we needed wet tarps for 'realism', so began sprinkling water everywhere.....
And since I had nothing to do but sit and wait, I thought I'd just take pictures of him doing it.
Picture
Then after taking photos and cleaning everything up, Byuri needed a good foot washing...

In Town

With their campground being thoroughly soaked, the the kids decided to go into town.
Aaron and Ringo picked up some nice hot, 'World Famous Fish & Chips' for everyone, at
Herbert's Fisheries down on the docks in 'downtown' Kilarney.....

Then everyone enjoyed an ice cream for dessert.

Nyssa was a little concerned that they needed to go back to the campground now
and deal with all their soaked stuff.

Camping in the Rain

The day the kids went up to camp, the weather kept getting worse and worse the closer we got. We set up camp as best we could, but with the torrential rain all night, everything was totally soaked. Many of the campsites were flooded. Including theirs. It reminded me of when I was a kid and we'd go camping with our family. It always seemed to rain. Everything got damp and dirty. We were stuck inside our tents unless we wanted to get soaked outside.  The situation seemed so familiar....
"This doesn't look very good!  What a lot of water!"
Picture
Ringo went out, but it was far too wet for anything but boats and ducks...
Picture
But Byuri decided she was going to have a good time, so took off her shoes.....

Summer Camp

7/23/2017

The RV is all packed, and we are all set to take a bunch of the kids up north to summer camp for a few days. I chose two dolls that have been up there before - Byuri & Nami - so they could help with the five who've never been anywhere before. Aaron, Paige, Nyssa, Eric and Ringo are all coming, although Ringo, like usual, doesn't seem too thrilled about it. I guess we'll see what there is in the wilderness for him to pout about.

Red Sneakers

Several of the kids helped themselves to a pair of the new shoes, and started putting them on....
Picture
Ringo wasn't happy that Nyssa beat him to the red sneakers, and he was stuck with the black ones
Picture
He had really wanted those red sneakers....
Picture
Aaron, Nyssa and Holly were all happy with their choices....
Picture
But Ringo just couldn't let go of wanting the red sneakers....
Picture
Aaron and Holly thought he was making far too big a fuss over nothing...
Picture
But Nyssa felt bad, and decided she wouldn't be able to enjoy them knowing Ringo
wanted them so badly. So she took them off and offered them to him....
Picture
Ringo quickly grabbed the red sneakers, and left - before Nyssa could change her mind....
Picture
Of course I gave Ringo a little talking to, and made him give the red sneakers back.  It was nice of Nyssa to offer them to him, but it wasn't nice of him to go on and on, and make her feel so guilty about having chosen the red ones first. He might as well get used to the fact that in life we often don't get what we want.

And on that note - I'm wondering why so many of the photos in this post are so 'green'.  The originals on my desktop aren't. Weebly must be doing something again. Like I said, when there's other people involved, things don't necessarily turn out like we want. That's life.

Blue Sandals

I bought one pair of the Vintage shoes from Affordable Designs,
just to check them out and see how they fit.
Picture
They are a bit roomy, and do fit better with socks, but either way they look nicely in scale.
Picture
They are made out of a rather thin material, so probably won't hold up to a lot of taking on and off.
But they are a nice, inexpensive option, and come in five different colours.

Bargain Hunting

Benny took her family along to Value Village, and they all found some great bargains....
Picture
Erzulie found an almost new Winnie the Pooh and a doll, while Efreet found a box of Lego.
He's hoping all the pieces are there.
Picture
Benny picked up some fabric and yarn, while Angela found a nice sun dress.
So a good haul for everyone....
Picture
Angela panicked...."I left my pot back at the cash......I have to go back and get it!"
"Okay, hurry up. We'll get in the car and wait for you."
Sigh..."Kids!!  Next time I'm going by myself."
Picture
"Got it!!"

I'm currently working on repurposing some little girl outfits I found at Value Village. They were such pretty printed corduroys that I had to get them. The new outfits will be for Kaye Wiggs girls....
