Spent the afternoon 'costuming' some of my son's 'ghosts' for his front lawn Halloween display. Plastic film and packing tape sure goes a lot faster than sewing! Each ghost has a string of LED lights inside, run on a battery pack, so they'll glow at night.
It's been a very long time since the girls brought any of their dolls on Saturday mornings, but this morning Rachel and Teagan both brought one - each dressed in a Halloween costume - and they wanted me to take photos of them... I had set up on the picnic table to take some fairy pictures.... But Wonder Woman wanted in on the fun... I also let the girls play with my Diner.... I know the diner is made for this size doll, but after having my own little dolls in it,
these two seem so huge in it -like two little girls in their 'play kitchen'. Whereas with my dolls the scale is much better, and it looks like a real diner for them. Some of my favourite pumpkin carving photos from the archives.... Each year, I let the newest dolls do the carving. In 2013 it was Lonnie, Byuri, Elin and Nami... In 2014 it was Lisa, Efreet, Bonnie, and Ringo... In 2015 it was Milo, Coco, Eric, Holly, and Nyssa....
It's taken me a while to get everything cleaned up from our recent trip. All the dolls had to be changed back into their regular clothes, and everything put away. Owen was the last doll to be unpacked, earlier this week. As he stood there in his Fantasy outfit, with the three fairy ladies right behind him in my workspace, they suddenly made me think of 'Macbeth and the three witches'. So, not one to miss a photo opportunity, outside they all went for some pictures..... Of course, Owen only had eyes for Leona...
I've started work on the wings for the Dark Fairies. I drew up three different dragon wing designs, and chose a light colour to match each of the three colour combinations, since it's easy to add darker colours to light fabric, but it doesn't work as well to add light colour to dark fabrics. Personally, I had thought I'd be finished the wings this week, but everything always goes slower than expected. So, what else is new?? I should be used to that by now.
So now I need to form the wires, insert them into the wings, and stuff the edges. That alone will take days. The wings will get a 'claw' at the upper joint, and those need to be made of Apoxy and attached before I can start painting. So, a LOT still left to do. I'm using three of my JID ladies for the Dark Fairies costume models, and they looked so lovely, that I had to take them outside for a few photos... Now they just need their wings....
Next, the two little mice started to bring over a small red bench. "What's that for?" "You're going to need this to get high enough to blow out the candles.." It was just the right height.... Happy Birthday Smuzhka Raccoon!
"Wow! That is some cake!!" he exclaimed. 'Well, when we asked you what you liked, you said 'everything!'.
So we got you a cake with EVERYTHING. Mr. Ropuha and Tiana made themselves comfortable... Everyone was most curious to hear about how the two of them met... The two mice returned, bringing in the birthday cake.... Smuzhka was speechless. He couldn't believe it!
