saving her favourite - the Town Hall - until last......
When our boys were growing up, we tried to encourage non-violent toys that encouraged creativity, so Lego was often the gift of choice. Efreet and Ringo both enjoy Lego too, so I got them some for Christmas. I caught them concentrating hard to put their little cars together..... But boys aren't the only ones who love Lego. Nami asked for several 'Bricktober' sets... She put together the fire station, the pizzeria and the movie theatre, saving her favourite - the Town Hall - until last...... Efreet and Ringo couldn't believe their eyes!
A couple of the girls were lucky enough to get beautiful new doll houses, along with a large selection of furniture, for Christmas. I photographed them trying to set up their doll houses, but I think I may have given them far too much furniture to fit into the tiny rooms...... I thought it was fascinating that they all wanted to set up their bathrooms first....
Lisa dreams of learning to sew and becoming a fashion designer..... ...so I put together a basket full of sewing supplies for her. I found a tiny pair of shears in a sewing kit at the dollar store, wrapped embroidery floss around some tiny wooden spools I discovered tucked into the back of my props drawer, and then I made a miniature pincushion.
Peach had a special gift for Lonnie. She had enjoyed her fall trip so much, she thought maybe one of the others might enjoy coming along on a wilderness excursion as well. So she gave Lonnie a backpack complete with all kinds of wilderness hiking gear.... "Wow, this is so cool! Thanks so much!" "Next time I hope I can come along with you!"
Efreet was thrilled to receive an electronic Simon game.... He was so excited that he wanted to play it right away. Ringo wanted to play too, but he found the lights flashed way too fast and he couldn't keep up.... *Simon is a 2014 Hallmark Christmas ornament, and it really works.
Time to share some photos from Christmas morning..... Ringo was up very early, and he was the first one downstairs, and after taking down his stocking, he went to see what Santa had left him under the tree...... And what a sight! The bottom of the tree was piled high with gifts!
Bonnie was the next one up, and she joined Ringo staring in awe at the tree.... I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas yesterday!
There was so much good food, and so many delicious treats, it was difficult not to eat too much. And the older I get, the worse it seems to affect me. This photo of Elin and Nami, from last year's 'Bicarbonate of Soda Day', says it all - it's pretty much how I was feeling.....and still am..... With the cookies and milk all set out for Santa, the girls gathered round to quietly listen to
Byuri read their favourite Christmas story.....Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.... The girls have been busy baking cookies all day, and have put some of their favourites on a plate for Santa, in the hopes that he will appreciate their efforts and give them something extra special. "He's going to need a big glass of milk to go with all those cookies", said Bonnie, "Do you think he's going to eat them all?" "Sure! He's going to need all that sugar for energy so he can deliver all his presents in time.
I just hope he's not diabetic...." |
