I have no photo ideas in mind, so am bringing a LOT of props, so I'm ready for almost any occasion. I just wish I had clothes for everyone, but that will be a project for another day....
I've decided to take my Whispering Grass Forest Dwellers - and Willie - with us on a little adventure. I made them each a small padded bag so they can be packed safely into a box without scratching each other. I colour-coded the bags so I'd know who was in which one. I also made a small Medieval tent. Some day I'll make some bigger ones for the full-size dolls, for when I need a Medieval encampment.
I have no photo ideas in mind, so am bringing a LOT of props, so I'm ready for almost any occasion. I just wish I had clothes for everyone, but that will be a project for another day.... With all the doll clothes nice and dry, they needed a bit of repair after putting them on Rags. Lisa, who was already an experienced seamstress, tried to teach her little sister to do it herself... Rags couldn't resist playing with the ribbons... Holly noticed him.... "Stop that Rags!! Get away from there!!" ...and off he ran...
With their dolls just lying there all naked..... ...so Holly thought it was a good idea to give them a bath as well.... Effie was still there, giving non-stop advice to Nyssa.... .....who was hanging up the last of the doll clothes.... "You do know that doll is hollow, right? If you put it in the water, it will get all wet inside..." "...and if you don't let it dry completely, it can get mouldy inside..." "Oh, oh...Too late! It's already in the water!"' "Don't worry, I've washed this doll like this many times before, and it was just fine..." ...and while the girls were distracted with concern for Holly's doll, they didn't notice Rags....
Since all their dolls were undressed, and Rags had made a mess of several in his efforts to escape, Nyssa's Mom suggested it was the perfect opportunity to wash all their doll clothes. It was a lovely day out, so they set up tubs of soapy water out on the porch, then they put on their aprons, rolled up their sleeves, and set to work.... Holly stuffed her tub full of doll clothes.... Elin offered to help, and worked at a second tub.... ...while Nyssa hung everything up.... Effie didn't want to get her hands dirty, and didn't offer to help. At her house they had a maid that did all their laundry. But that didn't stop her from offering plenty of advice.... "Our maid always hangs white clothes in the sun so it will bleach the clothes nice and white. " "You're also supposed to hang all the longer stuff on the outsides, and the shorter things in the middle...so it won't touch the ground...." The other girls tried to ignore her.... "You also aren't supposed to hang your laundry under any trees, or the birds will come and poop all over everything, and then it has to be washed all over again... "Sigh..." poor Nyssa had about had enough. "I think I hear your Mom calling you."
Eric was busy rocking away on his horse.... ....when he noticed Rags sitting there watching him.... "You want to go for a ride too?" So he picked him up... ...and took Rags for a ride... "so, what do you think? Is this fun?"
I finally finished the last - or first, depending on your point of view - behind the scene album. This album includes all the first behind the scene photos that I ever took, up to, and including, 2013. I didn't take any the first year, only one the second, and just a handful each of the next two years. So I figured I'd just put them all together into one album... I've also created a master Behind the Scenes file in Photography Tips, with thumbnail links to each respective year.... Right now all the albums only have links to return to their respective year's Favourite Photos. I still need to add links back to the Photography Tips page.
Lonnie came home earlier this week, after getting an entire redo. Her face-up had completely rubbed off of her chin and nose, and her sealer had turned very yellow. So she was stripped and repainted. Now she's like new again.... It's always a little bitter-sweet to have a doll repainted, especially if she's been a favourite for years. They end up fresh and new, but never exactly the same, and it takes a little time to get used to the new look. Lonnie's complexion is a little lighter now, especially in person - I didn't even see that she had freckles - and she reminds me so much of my Kassia, which is interesting since the two of them arrived together, back in 2012.
I've completed yet another Behind the Scene album. This time for 2014. It's actually fun looking back on all the photo shoots over the years. Makes me wish I'd taken more of those kinds of shots - especially one of the set-up for 'Abbey Road' for the recent July photo contest.
Made a second mask last night. It's the Phantom's 'Red Death' mask from the New Year's Eve party scene - from the stage production. I don't normally go for 'creepy', but I don't care for the mask and costume from the film version. The stage production version is just so much more interesting, and over-the-top menacing looking.... Now to sand and finish both masks, and then I'll be all set for whenever I'm ready to make the costumes to go with them.
I ordered a couple of new wigs for my FID ladies recently. I figured with Miho being an 'Asian' sculpt, she really should have straighter hair. I already have a long straight wig, but it didn't look quite right. So I'm trying a shorter wig.... It was rather windy, so there were a lot of stray hairs.
If they persist, I'll have to do a little trimming. |
