We had some snow overnight, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to take some photos of my latest commission - an MSD Christmas Fairy in reds and greens. Modelling the outfit is my beautiful Aeran (tan Narae). Cinnamon and Elin decided to come out too, and take a walk in the snow with their new friend.
Another little Iplehouse tiny arrived today - a fair Nami. She's my first normal skin doll from Iplehouse. And she has a slight smile! I wasn't even looking to get another BID just yet, but she was offered up for sale last week at such a good price I couldn't resist. For now she's borrowing Elin's pink lace dress until she gets something of her own to wear. Layla and Nelly went away to Charie's spa last night. I can't wait to see what see does with them! In the meantime I'm busy with wings for a fairy commission. The first fairy is a Christmas fairy in reds and greens, a brand new colour combination, and I'm getting quite excited about how it's turning out. The other fairy is a combination of pale pinks, lavender and yellow.
Miki rearranges the Wisemen and camels as another Christmas season starts to wind down.
A few more photos to take and it's back to commissions. There are several new and exciting outfits ahead - old favourites on new sizes of dolls, and brand new designs too. My Naraes will model their very first fairy outfits, my JID Asa will be model for a Victorian evening gown, Hazy will get to model a white Renaissance-style fairy, Miki & Layla will model for angel outfits, a Celtic warrior, and more fairies, and Tedros will model an elven horse whisperer. Tedros & Carina watch the Yule celebrations in the candlelit town square.
I thought I'd try take some photos of Tedros & Carina, after all she is wearing a lovely red dress perfect for the holidays. I really like the feel of this image. Last year I decorated my very old, small plastic tree with tiny in-scale decorations - even made a paper chain with tiny loops - but the tree didn't make it into any photos. This year that old tree of mine is proving to be wonderful for all kinds of doll photos. It's the perfect size for Narae and Maya. I also discovered the "lens flare" function in PhotoShop, and use it to enhance the star at the top of the tree- adding that special something to the overall, magical, holiday feel.
Thought it was time to take some serious photos reflecting the real reason we celebrate Christmas, so I dug out my old creche figures and made a small version of the candle display we always have on our living room table. My beautiful new Narae with her lovely white dress was the perfect doll to help set up the scene. She's holding one of my favourite old angel figures.
Now that Nelly is here, it is time for the Christmas family portrait of all my Kaye Wiggs girls. Nelly seems a bit "sleepy" or "washed out" in comparison to the other girls - she's cute enough on her own, but seems too lifeless with the others - so after the holidays she'll be going to the spa to be perked up. In the meantime she'll be partaking in holiday photos just the way she is.
Nelly arrived this morning! She is taller than her sister Layla, but she still fits her dresses. The bodice fits perfectly, but the sleeves and skirts are too short, which means minimal pattern adjusting. Yay!! I like not having to redesign a new set of patterns totally from scratch.
Nelly has very expressive hands, and with that cute little pout she reminds me so much of my youngest granddaughter. I picture Nelly as a red-head, and liked the lighter red wig best. Here she is looking all ready for Christmas. I say "looking ready", since she has no underwear, tights or shoes, and her skirt is a bit short. She needs a holiday dress of her own, but in the meantime this one will have to do. However, first priority is to make some tights and pantaloons for her. |
