Iplehouse sure knows how to pack a doll. Asa is beautiful. She is the Special Limited Edition real skin version, and came with default faceup, eyes and wig. She seems a bit cross-eyed, and I'm not sure if I'd prefer her with lighter eyes, so when I'm moving her eyes I'll see how she looks with other colours. She's strung very loosely and she could sure use some sueding in her joints, but that's easy enough to take care of too. She's very lovely and I can see her dressed in all kinds of exotic outfits. Asa is a bit bigger than Narae, so she didn't fit properly into one of the dresses we borrowed - but it was better than being photographed naked.
I saw the mail truck pull up this morning, and the mailman got out with a doll-shaped box, so I got out my credit card to pay for the inevitable Custom duties - but there weren't any this time! What a nice surprise on an otherwise dreary morning when I'm coming down with the next bug in the endless "illness merry-go-round".

Received a shipping notice from Iplehouse this morning - which means my JID Asa is on her way! Hopefully she'll be here before the end of the year
Well, I spent the whole afternoon taking doll photos with my nutcrackers. 'Clara' looked so nice with all the nutcrackers, and even little Cinnamon wanted her picture taken with them. I was really pleased with how the photos turned out!
I finished Cinnamon's 'Christmas Elf' outfit today so took a few photos of her in my tree. Once I take a few more I'll post the best ones on my 'Favourite Photos' page.
I'm working on some new doll outfits so I can take some Christmas photos. Narae already has a lovely soft white dress so she can be 'Clara' and pose with all my nutcrackers. I'm working on a elf outfit for little Cinnamon, and she looks so cute in her little green-striped tights. Cinnamon will also get a Christmas Fairy outfit. I haven't decided on an outfit for Ryung yet, but my Christmas decorations aren't coming down until I get Christmas photos of everyone. So I hope that doesn't mean I'll still have my tree up in March!
I can't believe I'm actually going to be getting a Supia Rosy today!! Ever since I got into BJDs I've wanted to own a Rosy 'someday'. I debated between regular resin or French resin (which can yellow with age). But the Supia company seems to have stopped taking orders for French Resin Rosy, and had recently shut down completely in order to catch up on back orders, so it wasn't like I could even order one if I wanted to. Well, the whole debate over which resin I'd like my Rosy in 'someday' went right out the window when I spotted a brand new For Sale listing for a Rosy on a doll forum last night - and the seller was right here in Ontario, just 45 minutes up the 401 from me!! No huge shipping fees, no waiting for months, and no big Customs charges!! Just go pick her up in person the next day!! Rosy is brand new and has no faceup, so she'll go to Charie Wilson to be 'brought to life' by her magic touch.
My order of doll wigs from Antina's arrived today. It's so nice to have good quality 'store-bought' wigs that actually fit and at such a nice low price! Most of the wigs were ordered with specific costuming ideas in mind - late 18th century French, Victorian & Steampunk, 1920's flapper, Elizabethan and some 'all purpose'. Now that I know what size upswept wig for Marie Antoinette-style outfits fits best, I need to put in another order and stock up, since the wigs will be elaborately embellished to go with the costumes, and they are currently on clearance sale. I'm thinking white and pale blonde wigs to go with the lighter dresses, and some browns and auburns to go with the darker fabrics. I can already imagine what many of them will look like, but actually getting some of the outfits done and ready to be photographed will still be a while - plus some are planned for Cuprit, who won't be here for another month.
My little Kaye Wiggs Cinnamon arrived today! She sure is tiny, but ever so cute! She came without her eyes inserted, so I struggled for some time putting them in - I've never put eyes in before. I only had one tiny wig, and no clothes, so Cinnamon decided to hold a Christmas ornament to protect her dignity while I took some photos. I'm really looking forward to making her some wigs and clothes, and taking some fun Christmas photos of her!
I finished eight more Cute & Colourful MSD size outfits (three I made two of). This time I didn't sew the tulle underskirt onto the bodice, but made it a totally separate unit.
Now to post them all. |
