the Engineer's Garden

In Louisbourg, the most opulent home belonged to the Engineer. His house was bigger and nicer than even the Governor's. One entered his property through a big stone gate....

I love seeing Bianca surrounded by flowers. I love seeing the natural walkways. In the US, most walkways are paved.

I did a Google search to learn more about Louisbourg. Your photos are so much better than the ones I saw on a tourist website! They should hire you to be their photographer.

I love how the sweethearts are exploring the town on their own. I can just imagine that they come together in the evening and share their stories over dinner (or is it supper?).

Back in the 1700's walkways weren't paved. They were just dirt. I expect if you go to places like Plymouth they are there as well.

I took individual photos of the two of them, for some variety. And yes, they did end up together for 'dinner' in the evening. That's still a few posts away.

Thanks! I actually didn't take all that many photos of the fort itself, since I did that the last time we were there. This time I was more focussed on taking doll photos.

In your research did you learn that James Cook (who later became the famous British Captain and explorer) was with the British when they captured Louisbourg?

Dear Martha, I actually wanted to learn about the Engineer's house that you mentioned but I got side tracked and only looked at the photos.

I wanted to learn why the Engineer's house was grander than the Governor's House.

Here I am sounding like a broken record... she is so beautiful and looks so natural in that setting. Your photos of her, the setting, the flowers, everything are absolutely beautiful.

I agree. I just love her, and am so pleased with how well she photographs.

I've already been thinking what costumes to make for her next - after I finish the four last 'Outlander' ones, and the others I'm either working on, or am still planning before the end of fall.

I am new to your blog and love the photos of these two dolls. Did you sculpt them? If not, what are they? They are both exquisite!

Hi Angela!

No I did not make the dolls. They are Asian Ball-jointed dolls (BJDs) from a company called Iplehouse, which is in Korea.

The dolls are made to order, and come naked, but you can have the company paint their faces. The whole idea behind the dolls is for people to customize them themselves. We buy or make our doll's wigs and clothing, and take photos of them.

BJDs come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. The two in this post are the Fashion (FID) size, which range in size from 45 to 50 cm. Google 'Iplehouse' to see lots more.

I will look them up. I have 2 BJDs, a Resinsoul girl (Mii) and an Angel of Dream boy (Izumi), both SD size, plus a Neo Blythe and several smaller mass produced ones such as Tyler Wentworth and BFC ink, along with a fairly sizable collection I sew for when I have time such as Gene and then American Girl. I am always looking for my next addition to my collection so I will definitely check out the Iplehouse line. Your two are beautiful!

Iplehouse makes the most beautiful realistic dolls in my opinion. My two above are from their FID line, which they only open for orders every other month - not this month.
