Camping in Kilarney

The day the kids went up to camp, the weather kept getting worse and worse the closer we got. We set up camp as best we could, but with the torrential rain all night, everything was totally soaked. Many of the campsites were flooded. Including theirs. It reminded me of when I was a kid and we'd go camping with our family. It always seemed to rain. Everything got damp and dirty. We were stuck inside our tents unless we wanted to get soaked outside.  The situation seemed so familiar....

"This doesn't look very good!  What a lot of water!"

Ringo went out, but it was far too wet for anything but boats and ducks...

But Byuri decided she was going to have a good time, so took off her shoes.....

In Town

With their campground being thoroughly soaked, the the kids decided to go into town. Aaron and Ringo picked up some nice hot, 'World Famous Fish & Chips' for everyone, at Herbert's Fisheries down on the docks in 'downtown' Kilarney.....

Then everyone enjoyed an ice cream for dessert.

Nyssa was a little concerned that they needed to go back to the campground now and deal with all their soaked stuff.

Moving to a Drier Site

With the weather improving, it was time to move everything to a drier campsite. They found the perfect spot on the edge of our own new campsite. All the bedding was piled on the picnic table, and the trailer was moved....

the First Sunset

When we go up north to Kilarney, we never stay in the Provincial Park, but at a private campground, where our favourite site is one on the bare open rocks overlooking Kilarney Bay to the west. It's the perfect spot to watch the sun set each evening, and it's always a surprise.

Several of the kids got comfortable on the picnic table to watch as the sun started to set.....

..and down it went, on a clear cloudless evening.....

Maybe there would be a more colourful sunset tomorrow.

Morning on the Dock

Aaron was up early the next morning. It looked like it was going to be a gorgeous day.

Byuri came out to see what her brother was up to....   "It sure is beautiful up here."

She was glad he was really enjoying the camping trip.

She sat down beside him to take in the beautiful scenery....

Soon a few others came out to join them....

...as someone came paddling towards them.         "Hey, don't we know that dude??"

Lunch Time

It was a glorious day, perfect for eating lunch outside overlooking the bay....

They were having hamburgers and hot dogs....

And for dessert there was watermelon and pie....
