I've always loved wildflowers. Years ago when our kids were young and came along on trips, they'd complain that it wouldn't take so long to get somewhere if we didn't have to stop at every wildflower so I could take a picture. I'm sure they were exaggerating, because I honestly didn't have to stop and photograph EVERY one. Just every kind. Well Layla also seemed to enjoy wildflowers, and went around the campground picking a lovely bouquet. She found common vetch, buttercups, orange hawkweed, fleabane, sulphur cinquefoil, and an unidentified tiny pink flower. A girl after my own heart. Copyright © 2022 Martha Boers
All Rights Reserved The worst part of camping was always having to use an outhouse. Well, there was just one in their campground, and with so many people there was always a line up.... Hope had remembered to bring toilet paper, but Lenny was having a hard time waiting.... Raillie decided to catch up with her reading while she waited.... Cinnamon had also brought something to read, and it was her turn, so it might still be a while... At least they could enjoy the view as they waited.... Copyright © 2022 Martha Boers

All Rights Reserved The next morning the sun was shining through the trees, lighting up the inside of the camper. Talyssa was awake in her sleeping bag. "Raillie...are you awake?" "Yes. It's too bright to sleep anymore. Do you want to get up?" 'We could go explore the campground while everyone else is still asleep. But it's a bit chilly, so we'll need a sweater."" So they put on their sweaters and went out into the early morning chill... No one else was up yet. "It looks like it's going to be a nice day." Copyright © 2022 Martha Boers
All Rights Reserved Earlier this week a new little girl arrived. She's a Mini Fair Layla by Kaye Wiggs. I'd been keeping my eyes open for one for a while, since I've been wanting to replace my two MSD size Laylas with the Mini versions, which I like so much better. This little cutie was enhanced by Kaye Wiggs herself, who added the freckles. I was lucky I still had one spare Mini sized outfit for her to wear, but couldn't find a wig her size that I liked, since most of the 5/6 wigs were purchased for my Fashion sized dolls, so not exactly a style for a little girl. So I ended up sewing a big dart in the back of a 6/7 mohair wig instead. And with her sister, Mini Layla Elf. Obviously one of them will need a new name. I'm not sure if she will stay a redhead, as she also looked great as a blonde, but she's going to be a redhead for now. She's just a little sad that she missed going on our recent camping trip. So now I can get ready to re-home their larger counterparts, as well as two of my other bigger girls. I have no excuses anymore.

All Rights Reserved After lunch, Layla picked up a box of donuts for the rest of the drive..... "I hope everyone likes the ones I chose." A few hours later they finally arrived, and there was some discussion as to where would be the best place to set up their camp.... "I think over there..." It was the perfect place.... All Rights Reserved It takes much of the day to get up north to Killarney, so we usually stop for lunch at McDonald's in Gravenhurst. The girls wanted to stretch their legs in the park, so Hope went in to buy lunch... Everyone sat down at a picnic table in the park.... Copyright © 2022 Martha Boers
All Rights Reserved We are back home again after a few days up north. Jan wanted to go to his favourite kayaking place up at Killarney, on Lake Huron's Georgian Bay. We bring a canoe as well so I can go out for a bit as well, but I can't sit in a canoe for very long, so most of my time is always spent either knitting, or taking photos of my dolls. I decided to take along two separate sets of dolls this time; the five completed House elves and dragons; as well as my eight little contemporary Kaye Wiggs girls. They've never been up there before. This was some of the stuff I had gathered to take along, but it doesn't include all the bigger props, like tents, camper, picnic tables, bikes, and other larger stuff.... I try consider what photos I might want to take, and take everything I might need accordingly. The RV has lots of storage space, so it's best to be prepared, even if some of it never gets used. The shoreline of Georgian Bay is spectacular with all the bare, red granite rocks... We like to stay at a private campground in the town of Killarney, and like the spot on the rocks overlooking Killarney Bay.... It's total wilderness. No electricity, no wifi, no TV, no computers.... Just the peace of nature... I took lots of photos of the elves and dragons.... ...and of my little Kaye Wiggs girls.... ..and watched as Winston and Saphira's relationship blossomed. Anyways, now it's clean-up time, and I have hundreds of photos to go through and process. So stay tuned for the stories of everyone's adventures up north.
