..who had joined her at the table...."Mom let me keep him."
Dinner began... David had asked if they could have roast turkey legs.......his favourite.... So Ringo, who had to do everything his big brother did, took a big drumstick too... "Are you sure you'll be able to finish that whole thing?" The ladies were not quite so enthusiastic about a huge drumstick.... ....so Rosie was offering them quaint little heart-shaped meat pies. Meanwhile Nami was telling her Uncle Rex all about Rags, her new kitty... ..who had joined her at the table...."Mom let me keep him." " He's the best kitty ever! ....I really love him!" "Yes, I can see that..." Paige and David were at the end of the table near their Aunt Grace.... ...who was trying hard to start a conversation......"So, how is school?"

With David seated at the head of the table.... Ringo was feeling a bit let down. He idolized his big brother and they always sat beside each other... and now he was sitting so far away..... But then his Dad came and sat down beside him in David's seat.... "Looks like we get to sit beside each other..." "...and keep each other company this evening." 'You sure are one lucky boy." And suddenly Ringo didn't feel quite so lonely....
It was the evening before David's birthday, and the family had gathered for a special, private, birthday banquet. Everyone was in their seats, when Lawrence motioned for David to come up to the head of the table.... "Since it's your birthday, you and I will switch places this evening, and you will have the place of honour at the end of the table..." David was surprised..... It was the King's place at the end of the table... He knew it was quite an honour.....and everyone was watching.... So he sat down.... "How does it feel?", asked Lady Grace... "Good..." But with everyone at the table staring at him.... He couldn't help but feel a little self-conscious...
My KID David is due a first year anniversary birthday party this year. It is well past his actual arrival date (January 31st) and even the day he came home after getting painted (some time in April), but in some regards it's good I didn't throw him a party sooner, since back then he was just an ordinary, contemporary KID, with the prospect of just another ho hum party. But now that he's become part of a Royal family, and as the eldest son, his birthday will be celebrated in a style befitting a Crown Prince. The kitchen staff has been busy all week, the table has been set up in the great hall, and the servants are busy finishing up the details. Maya and Narae are busy hanging up some festive garlands.... ..while Rosie sets the table.... "Here's some more..." Replacing all the candles with fresh ones....
