We have a small patch of scillas in our back lawn, and one afternoon I spotted two little fairies....
Benny was doing a bit of cleaning up.... ...when her three kids came in.... "Happy Mother's Day!!" "We got you some flowers!" "Wow....thank you so much!" Then Angela went out for a minute...."I also baked you some cookies..." "Thank you sweetheart. They look amazing!" "You all certainly know how to make me feel special. I love you so much."
it was Mother's Day and Leona was relaxing reading, when her kids came in.... "Happy Mother's Day!!" 'We got these for you...." 'They are beautiful!" "Thank you!' And she sat down on the sofa where there was more room to cuddle.... "Those are really beautiful flowers! All my favourites!" "But I think we better go put them in some water...." "There....." ".....what do you think?" "They look great!" "Thank you! I love you all so much!" "Happy Mother's Day, Mom!"
Shortly after Lonnie, Holly and Coco left, another group of children entered the flower shop.... They also wanted to get some flowers for their Mom.... Even thought she wished she could afford more, Erzulie settled on a single red rose.... ...and Efreet chose a pink one.... ...and Angela chose a bouquet of pink roses... "Mom is going to love these!" "Bye..." "...and thanks for coming."
The day before Mother's Day is always a busy day in every flower shop. Three children came in... "Can I help you?" "Yes, thanks. We want to buy some flowers for our Mom...." "These are really pretty...." "It's so hard to choose...." Coco finally settled on a single pink rose, and paid for it... Holly and Lonnie both chose a lovely bouquet.... "I'd like those flowers, please..." "Are you sure you want these? They cost $15." "Yes I'm sure," and she laid the money out on the counter. ... "I've been saving up my allowance." Lonnie paid for her flowers, and then it was time to leave... "Mom is going to love these!"
There was a shipping notice from Iplehouse the other day, that my KID Paige boy is on the way. Which means he's going to need a wig. Making wigs is definitely not one of my favourite things to do, so I figured I might as well tackle a couple of others at the same time. At least it's gotten a little easier now that I figured out a better way to make the wig caps.... So, I have three wig caps ready to be made into wigs. There's one for the new boy, who I suspect will be named 'Jamie'. I prefer to keep a sculpt's original name, but I already have a Paige girl, so I was trying to find a boy's name that starts with 'P', but there wasn't one I liked. So I went down the list of soft 'G', and settled on Jamie. The ironic thing is, that Jamie was ordered specifically to wear the KID BOY Fantasy outfit, and be a son to Grace and Jude, and now I'm thinking I'd like to see the couple in something contemporary for a change. Which is why both of them need new wigs. Jude will need something fashionable, and much more tame, and I'm not going to trim his existing wild hair, because once it's been cut there's no going back. The only other outfits I have that would fit Jude would mean that Grace would need something other than straight long hair. So I made the two of them wig caps as well. It's interesting to see the three heads in a row. On the left is IH FID Grace in Special Real skin. In the middle is SJ 51ATH Jude in Amber Beige. And on the right is IH KID Paige in Normal resin.
Now I have to find the same mohair I used for Grace and Jude's first wigs so their new ones are the same colour. The new KID Jamie will get the same blonde colour mohair as Jude. "I can't stay long..." "Do you have to go already?" "Yes. I'd love to stay, but I can't...." "When will I see you again?" "Soon..."
Miho was my very first Fashion size doll, yet she's rarely appeared in photos, mostly because her beautiful pale green gown doesn't fit in with everyone else's darker Fantasy costumes. So I decided it was finally time to address that, and make her another gown so she can join in their stories and adventures in the future. I thought I'd go with a 'dark Fairy' or 'Sorceress' vibe, in purples, black and gold. Maybe with detachable wings. So I went 'basement shopping' yesterday and pulled every fabric and trim that I thought could fit that colour criteria. I ended up with all of these.... I don't know yet exactly what her gown will look like, but I have decided on the textured purple velour with the gold sparkles for the skirt. I like velour for the skirts since it drapes so beautifully. I just don't use it for the bodices, since the plush would be too thick on an FID size doll. In scale it would look like a human wearing a dress made of fake fur. So I chose a flat, black brocade with gold spots for her bodice, and the pleated, soft, purple satin for her underskirt.
I figured I'd start with the overskirt, since it will take me several days to hand hem, and I like having something to do in the evenings while listening to the TV. The bottom of the skirt, which is a semi circle, measures over 2 meters wide. I don't like the look of machine stitched hems on velour - especially not the serged ones - so am doing a rolled hem by hand using the traditional hem stitch. It's very slow going. Last night I managed about 1/5th of the way around in two hours. So, a few more evenings ahead just for the hem, and then comes all the beading up and down the front openings. So, plenty of time to figure out what the rest of her dress will look like. |
