I'm making some warm-weather clothes for my dolls. I've started two sundress outfits in KID size, and a little T-shirt for the BIDs. We went to Value Village on the weekend, and I picked up several little onesies in tiny stripes and prints - the three stripes in the upper middle, and the tiny floral print to the left. I also found a nice baby dress made of the softest pink print corduroy, which had stretch blue print ruffles. I'm making a T-shirt out of the blue fabric, and will make a pair of over-alls out of the pink corduroy. The blue and pink sundress will get a pink strip T-shirt underneath, and the yellow print sundress will get some dark pink stripe leggings...... Iplehouse recently discontinued quite a few of their older doll sculpts. There was one little BID - Ringo - who I didn't care for years ago when he first came out - but I came to like a lot more. He has a big pout and makes me smile every time I see him. He reminds me so much of a certain little person who always pouts like that every time she doesn't get her own way. I had always thought the photo opportunities would be quite limited with someone so "down", but who says every doll has to be in every photo? Anyway, at the last minute, Jan ordered him as a birthday present.....
Today I have a couple of 'vintage' looking, black & white fairy images to share. I've started a Favourite Photos album for all the black & white photos, and will continue to add new ones after posting them here.
I've also started on some summer clothes for Lisa, but probably won't get very far today. I have an early appointment with a Retinal Specialist this morning, and the heavy-duty eye drops they use to dilate the pupils, means I won't be able to see for most of the rest of the day. At least it's not sunny outside. Hopefully they won't last the entire day. I'll have to see how it goes - pun intended. I've put Leona back into the outfit she came with. I figured it was't fair to Soa to take her default costume and make her be a West Coast Indian. Everyone needs to be reasonably dressed while they wait for me to make them something special just for themselves. I didn't care much for the lace-edged denim jacket Leona came with, so let her borrow Maya's vest. It will do for now. I rather like Leona in jeans, and think it would be nice to have a 'modern' group come along on our fall trip this year. That trip will see us exploring the Colorado Rockies down into New Mexico, to arrive just in time for the annual Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. I never thought I'd be interested in 'modern' clothes for my dolls, but I think a young family in jeans and hiking gear coming along on a trip through all kinds of varied landscapes would be really nice for a change. No fantasy stuff, just regular adventure. So, Leona is busy checking the Internet to find interesting places in the area she'd like to go to see. and for hiking and camping gear she's going to need..... It's nice to have a long time to prepare for the fall trip, but I'm running out of time for the Florida one. We are in yet another super deep-freeze, and my dolls are all in their winter wear waiting for it to warm up some outside so they can play in the snow a few last times. I need two of them for trip clothing models, but I'm not able to print out the patterns I need. The lights are on, but my upgraded computer won't recognize the printer. Just one of the many things still not working. Guess I'm going to have to draw up patterns from scratch, so I can actually work on something today, as Tuesday and Wednesday will both be total write-offs for sewing. I have an appointment with a retinal specialist tomorrow morning, and with the eye drops they put in, I won't be able to see for the rest of the day. And Wednesday we have plans for the whole day. So, better get to it....
Took a few 'mood' shots of Asa in my dining room this morning. Standing on the end of the table, with just the natural light from the window, and the cabinet in behind, she looks like she could be in a suitably dark palatial-like setting. I posted the photos in the Iplehouse Photo Gallery. They just started a new three-month long photo contest, and the winners get free dolls. So it's worth a try. Iplehouse already gives points to the favourite photos submitted to their Photo Gallery each month, and I've won twice already - once for Byuri as Princess Leia with R2D2, and most recently for Kassia in the snow. Each point is worth a dollar towards any next purchase, and they really add up. When Jan ordered a little Ringo BID for my April birthday, all the points I'd accumulated completely covered the difference with the devalued Canadian dollar. Not bad at all!
I had planned on taking some new photos today, but time got away from me and now it's too dark to do it. So, I'm posting a few more black and white photos, this time with my Kaye Wiggs girls. In the first two photos they are wearing dresses repurposed from my daughter's and my own baby dresses. The KW girls don't look quite as "real" as my little Iplehouse girls, but they are still cute. Went to Value Village this afternoon and scored some nice props for photos. I also picked up several baby onesies with tiny all-over prints and stripes, for just 99 cents each, that I can cut up to make into T-shirts to go with some summery overalls or sundresses.
