the Underskirt

I've been working all day on the Queen's underskirt. There's some beautiful fabrics and trims...

...but before I can get to the embellishment, I have to make the basic underskirt. Both the fabrics I'm using are sheer metallics. The periwinkle blue for the upper skirt is so flimsy and thin, that it needed the support of a layer of white cotton underneath. I'm taking photos of many of the different steps involved and posting them in the Tutorial, so as not to fill my Blog every day.

I've switched Asa's head onto Leona's body, and the resin is a very good match. Unfortunately I can't say the same for Leona's head on Asa's body. Her pale face doesn't go with Asa's rosy-blushed body at all - but then, it didn't match her own body either. I'll see what Charie says about it, whether she can make Asa's body appear lighter to match Leona's head, or if she's going to need a new faceup. Problem is, I really like Leona's faceup. But I'll deal with that issue later.

Here's where I'm at with Asa's underskirt.....it's ready for embellishing....

I hope so. Yes, the resin match for Asa is really good. The body definitely needs some blushing, and she needs her own hands with the dark red nails.

I like the body switch, and more importantly I think Asa does too!
And the progress on the skirt base is brilliant, you work fast!

And good luck with the decision about what to do with Leona *sigh*
What a shame about the sealer issue. :(

Oh yes, every queen would like a lovely bust. It was surprising to me that the IH Glamor Bust is really not as big as I'd imagined, but it's actually a rather nice size. It makes Asa's old Small chest look very flat indeed!

Your progress on this outfit is fascinating.

Maybe you could have the body blushing removed from Asa's body? That way you can preserve the faceup that you like. Just a thought.

Asa's body will definitely need to be stripped, but I'll need to wait and see if it can be "whitened" to match the faceup, or if the face needs to be redone. The face clearly has too much sealer on it, giving it that white powdered look. Or the sealer reacted with the mold release. Either way, the back of the head, and even around the ears, Leona's resin is way darker like her body. There's a distinct
"powder line" between the pale faceup and the real resin colour.

Yes, that powder line can happen when too much MSC is used. I use MSC very, very sparingly to avoid that problem. And sometimes too much can also cause chipping.
