Naomi's Costume Shop

I really loved the set for Naomi's Costume Shop.  It was the most elaborate setting that I'd ever created. So I took full advantage taking dozens of photos, even though I only needed a handful for the actual story.

So I decided to put the entire set into it's own, totally separate, album - Naomi's Costume Shop

WOW! (in capital letters). The photos are amazing. I love the bin of tiny rosettes and the bin of stick pins. The gowns are, of course, stunning. The attention to detail, throughout, is incredible.

I feel that we got to see two of your crafts (fashion design and photography) on a deeper level. Your passion was transmitted through the photos and it was definitely warmly received by us readers. Bravo!

Thank you! I suppose the reason the scenes spoke to me so much is because of the reason you give - my own background with costuming. It was a great way to combine and showcase some of most elaborate doll costumes. The scenes seemed so 'personal', and I got totally carried away taking way more photos than the story needed.

Really WOW! (in capital letters, too) Your shop and the photos are awesome. Such a great way to display your amazing gowns and costumes. The Queen of the Night still is my absolute favorite costume, but everything else is very close behind.

I LOVE your photos and your dresses. Your beautiful artwork inspires me every time. I'm learning so much from you, so thank you for sharing the time and the effort you put in your wonderful hobby.

Thanks. Christine's costume is one of my favourites as well, but it's not exactly something someone can casually wear. So it was perfect to display it in Naomi's costume shop.

The details are amazing. I sew some and found the little spools of thread to be particularly endearing. It's all lovely.

Thank you.

The spools of thread are little wooden spools (small and really tiny) from Michaels, which I wrapped and glued real thread onto a few years ago for another sewing story.

Lovely to see The Phantom of the Opera dress making a guest appearance! It's one of my favourites that you've made!

Yes, one of the main reasons I made dressmaker dummies was so I could display that costume in Naomi's shop.

I loved the somewhere in time story all the little details were so wonderful, I'm hoping to see where the characters may go in the future, maybe a wedding?

Until then maybe the costume shop could have a children's section where some of your modern children could come to get their Halloween costumes.

Thank you. Baron and Naomi will be heading out on an adventure together soon.

Even though having kids come for Halloween costumes sounds like a fun idea, it's not possible. The costume shop was set up temporarily for the recent story, and was taken apart after taking the required photos. None of my sets actually exist permanently, so it's not like I can go back and reuse them.

I can picture a wedding at some point, but it would be a lot of work, since Baron is the son of the Queen of the fairies, so it would have to be suitably extravagant. Which means lots of new costumes. And it's not like I don't have anything else to do.

Right now I'm working on contemporary clothes for Baron - something I never thought I'd need. But things change.
