Naomi's Costume Shop
I needed a few photos of Naomi's Costume Shop and Fashion Showroom for the flashback about her life in my 'Somewhere in Time' story. The resulting Costume Shop I put together was the most elaborate set I'd ever done, so I thought I'd take full advantage, and I ended up taking dozens of photos - far too many for my story. But they were too good not to share, so I decided to create a separate stand-alone album with all the photos....
the Costume Shop Set
The basic set, before adding the dolls.
The old 'spice cabinet' holds dozens of bolts of fabric, wrapped around cardboard. They were made a few years ago for a Santa Workshop story. I rolled fabric around dowels to create larger 'bolts' of fabric. I made three cloth dressmaker dummies specially for this set. They were based on the Slim FID body, and supported the gowns beautifully.

A second old 'jewelry box' cabinet was filled with real sized rolls of trim and silk ribbon, as well as bags of ribbon roses.
The 'cork board' was just brown construction paper taped to the wall. All the costume sketches are shrunken versions of my own costume drawings (marker and watercolour) I'd done in Theatre School way back in the seventies. I even glued fabric and trim swatches to many of them. The hats and parasol are from existing costumes.
My Limhwa Lily donated her gown to be displayed on one of the dummies. I had wanted a bigger mirror, and we even went to several stores looking for one, but I ended up just using the one I had. The spools of thread are tiny wood spools, onto which I had glued real thread. I piled a collection of fine silk on the back chair, and filled the room with all kinds of trims and supplies...
