Eden's costume is slowly coming along. I spent much of yesterday embroidering and beading, but it doesn't go all that fast. I got one side of his hooded collar embroidered and beaded, but now I have to do it all over again on the other side.... I haven't decided whether to use beads or studs on his tunic. Studs would be bigger. Beads would be smaller. Studs would be flatter. Beads would stick out more. Studs are a lot harder to apply, whereas beads are a lot easier. But in the end, it will be whichever looks best.
Winston had been 'vanquished'.... He gave Ringo back his hat....."And here's your sword..." 'Now if you could just give me a hand, and help me up. I'm not as young as I used to be..." Nami brought out some ice cream for everyone... "Are you okay?" "Yes, I'm fine....just a little stiff.." "You know, your fighting skills have been getting a lot better..." "One day you will become one awesome knight..." But Paige knew that Winston wasn't really trying too hard. After all, a dragon was a formidable foe, even for a knight. But Ringo needed to develop some confidence as well as improve his skills. Shadow kept eyeing her ice cream... "You want some too, boy?" "So, shall we try again, same time tomorrow??"
So, I made Eden a new shirt, out of a lighter cream fabric this time. I like it a lot better up against his skin tone, so now can proceed with the rest of his outfit like I originally planned... There's a lot of chain-stitch embroidery to do on his tunic. I drew the lines on with my disappearing ink pen, although this is the very first fabric that it doesn't completely disappear on. The blue ink colour will disappear, but it leaves behind a pale line. So that means I have to be very exact with my embroidery, in order to completely cover the pen lines.... I lined his hooded collar with navy blue, because the embroidery on it will be gold and blue. It will take some time to do all the chain-stitch lines, and then I can start the beading.
Trying to fight a dragon isn't easy.... ..and it seemed Winston was getting the upper hand.... But Ringo was not one to be underestimated. He gathered up all his strength.... ...and knocked Winston over... "Surrender and give me back my hat, or I'll run you through!!" "Okay, you asked for it...." Ringo, the dragon slayer....
Winston had grabbed Ringo's hat, and he wanted it back.... ..but Winston wasn't going to give in so easily. Ringo grabbed the shield that was lying on the ground....
One of my favourite fairy photos ever..... It was taken the last time we went to British Columbia back in 2015. I had dressed Holly and the mice in their fairy outfits, and then Jan and I walked around the campground in Pacific Rim National park, looking for some nice patches of those beautiful amanita mushrooms. *More Photos
Last weekend the Resin Cafe doll forum had a photo contest. The theme was 'Favourite Outdoor Winter Fun'. It could feature any dolls, and not be limited to just the dolls by Kaye Wiggs. So I posted one.... We like going skating... But there's not a lot of activity on the forum anymore these days, and there weren't very many entries, so I kept adding more every now and then....just to increase participation... Building a snow fort... We like to go to Niagara Falls and see the partially frozen falls, and all the beautiful ice formations.... We also like to go feed the geese....the lazy ones who don't bother flying south..... Going for a walk when it's snowing... Making funny snowmen... Going sledding.... We like to feed the birds... Playing in the Snow... ....and building snow totems.... When I went to look the day after the contest closed, I was surprised that Kaye had chosen one of my last submissions - 'Playing in the Snow'- as her favourite. It won first place! Kaye offered me one of her dolls as my prize. I chose Little Lenny. There's just something about that cute, sad little face, that reminds me so much of a certain granddaughter, who used to pull that look whenever she didn't get her way. Thank you so much, Kaye!!
