"Oooops!" said Winston, and everyone turned to look..... One of the wheels had fallen off.... "We have a big problem!"
I've finally finished putting together the three birthday albums in Favourite Photos 2016... There's also some buttons on the Favourite Photos page for the 'Desert Adventure', but there's nothing in them yet, as I haven't gotten to the end of posting my trip photos yet, so am not sure how many there are altogether, or how to divide them into the separate albums.
Just a quick note to say that I'm getting email notifications of your comments again. Thankfully I have a very computer-savy son to look into problem stuff for me. It took him a week, of frustrating looking around, and finally ended with him changing my stuff to yet another server, and changing my passwords and user IDs.
This morning everything here, and on Facebook, seems to be working like it should again! Yay!! I can't understate how nice it is to be 'back in the loop' again! In the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado, at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, lies Great Sand Dunes National Park and Reserve. The dunes are the tallest in North America, rising over 700 feet, and covering roughly 40 square miles. It's like a scene out of the Sahara Desert.... It was the perfect setting for a little doll story. But I don't do well walking on soft sand, plus it was rather a far walk to the dunes, and we had a lot of dolls, and of course it was another bright sunny day with fierce winds. So we only took the four kids and Winston, and stayed down on the flat area where there weren't many people. And so began their adventure in the desert.... Struggling against the wind, with the dragon pushing their cart full of supplies...
I just realized that with all the focus on my trip and Halloween doll photos, I totally forgot to share pictures of my little granddaughter in her fairy costume for Halloween. We were surprised that at just 6 1/2 months old, Emily fit the fairy dress that I had made for our third granddaughter when she was 14 months. But I'd used the wings I'd made for that outfit for a doll costume, so I needed new ones. We found a wonderful set at Value Village. They were purple and green, so the dress needed some green accents to make it tie in with the wings - like some glitter and green ribbons.
I made a little headband, and my daughter found a light green top for Emily to wear underneath. Then we took her, and the pumpkins, out to the woodpile for photos. Today is my eldest granddaughter's tenth birthday! So I've been making her some doll clothes. (yes, I know those fairy wings are never going to get done, when I keep doing other things) Anyway, she wanted some ballet dresses, and her favourite colour is green at the moment....so... Instead of making more ballet tutus (there's always Christmas), I thought she might appreciate a 'Dorothy' costume. She said she was going to be Dorothy for Halloween, and so I bought some light blue gingham, and looked up Dorothy's costume from the movie. Good thing I didn't start, because Rachel's costume was only lightly based on the one from the movie - yes, the main dress was of blue gingham, and it had white puffed sleeves - but that's where the similarity ended. I figured a 'Dorothy' costume would only mean something to her if I copied the Halloween costume she herself wore, and not the one from the film, so that's what I made. So, here's Rachel's 'Dorothy', complete with gingham-lined basket, and 'Toto'... I hope she likes them!
It was autumn in the Rockies, and the aspen were bright yellow... Holly's family had come across Byuri, the little native girl, and she and Holly had become friends. Holly and her teddy.... Byuri and her doll.. "Would you like to hold mine?"
Well, that was one huge, unexpected, shock last night! "What a mess! It looks like an elephant came stampeding through here!" "It's a disaster!" "I know it all looks very overwhelming right now, but it will be okay." I sure hope so.
Exploring Mirror Lake in the Snowy Ridge wilderness, conditions were still not great for doll photos - between the bright sunshine, the freezing cold, and the fierce winds - but there wasn't much choice, so I took a few more photos, this time of Owen and Leona....
