While taking the Victorian Mother's Day photos I realized that I really needed to take a new updated family portrait, one including baby Sena. So I did.... ...and with Nyssa and Eric switching places.... ...and in good old fashioned sepia tones...
It's finally time to address the boy's clothing. I stripped David and Ringo down to their underwear, and left their tops on because it's just too cold these days to stand around topless.... First job was to make socks and pants, and put on the right footwear.... Next job is to decide on the rest of their outfits, and what fabrics and trims to choose. That's the hard part, so they've been standing around like this for a few days already.
I think I have the basic designs and fabric choices lined up, but it's the neck treatments that has me stalled. They really should have small, embroidered, stand-up collars, but those are bad enough to do on the bigger sized dolls, plus I don't have any patterns for them, which means drafting up one and making test tops. Which is something I've never liked doing, even though it's a very important step to get just the right fit. So I guess that's what I have to do today..... "Happy Mother's Day Mom!" "Here, let me hold Sena so you can open their gifts..." "I wonder what could be in here?" "Toilet paper!!" "Oh wow! I've really missed this!" All the packages contained rolls of toilet paper... "These are the best quality too..." "How in the world did you children manage to get all this?" "We asked Aunt Leona to send us some from the future last time she came.."
I'm in the process of creating all kinds of photo albums with the huge backlog of photos taken the last few months, and realized that I never took any final portraits of Rex after his knight outfit was finally finished. So I put on my parka to brave the cold and flurries, and took him and Bianca outside for some photos. After all it might LOOK like May out there, but it sure doesn't feel like it.
My photo submission for this years 'the STAND, Look Book's' photo competition won first place as the Judge's Choice!! The theme was the 'Curiosity Shoppe'... To see all my photos from that series..... *Click Here
I had made Paige a crocheted cap like some of the smaller girls... ..but I wasn't sure I really liked it all that much. However, she definitely needed something on her head to help minimize the size of her head. So I made a wreath of flowers.... I thought it looked nice, but still wanted something more. I had resisted making her another hat like the one I made for the purple and gold gown, but in the end, made one anyways... I really like how the flowers worked in the background. With everything shut down because of the pandemic, and Jan having lost his licence until he's fully recovered, I was getting concerned about getting flowers for my back garden this year - especially the baskets with small trailing flowers that I like to use in outdoor doll photos. So when my son took me grocery shopping this week, I spotted these baskets with purple and yellow 'million bells' outside, and promptly picked up two baskets. I have to take advantage when I can!
Unfortunately we are experiencing a 'polar vortex' the next few days, with temperatures below freezing until the end of next week, so all my flower baskets have had to come inside. There's even flurries in the forecast. In May! Like, where is spring this year? |
