I finished David and Ringo's outfits yesterday, so it was time for some photos. First the boys.... Then with their sisters... ...and the whole family.... Just the ladies.... ...and just the guys....
I've been working on some new outfits for David and Ringo, so they will be dressed appropriately as Princes in my Fantasy Medieval/Renaissance doll world. after making their pants and finding some nice black boots, I started on their shirts. I chose two colour combinations - red and gold for David, and blues for Ringo.... Both of them needed their long under-sleeves beaded. I chose black beads for Davids's shirt.... The two boys with their shirts done.... Today I made their over-tunics, which are all ready to have their underarm seams sewn.... I don't know what happened, since I cut out the linings and the good fabric at the same time (pinned on top of each other), but David's red tunic fabric ended up quite a bit shorter that the lining, so his top will be shorter than I had wanted. But I'm not going to redo it.
Anyways, now comes the most fun part - embellishing and finishing..... Phairby and the frog.... A puppet party, featuring one of my favourite people, who we sadly lost exactly thirty years ago today. And now for a closer look at my Jim Henson figure.... It was the very first male head my sister ever sculpted, and when she brought him over, I spent the rest of the day gluing on his hair and beard one tiny bit at a time, using a mix of human hair, dynel, and mohair, to get the proper 'salt & pepper' look. Then I made his body, sculpted his left hand and sneakers, and finished him. Jan made his director's chair, which has his name on the back.
He was made a year after his death, and his outfit was inspired by what he'd always wear in the opening sequences of 'the Jim Henson Hour' - a colourful sweater, dress pants, and white sneakers. |
