So on a cold, foggy morning we took Jude and Grace...
With the scillas blooming along the town line, it was time to decide on who to take there for photos. It had been two years since I'd been able to go there, which meant none of my newer FIDs had ever been photographed there, since many of them are newer arrivals from the last year and a half. Also, many of their costumes were made during that same time period, so have never been showcased there either. So on a cold, foggy morning we took Jude and Grace... Then in a different spot, for my favourite photos taken there this spring....
I'm working on posting all the Blog photos into Favourite Photos albums, and came across these ones which were never posted here....
Yesterday morning we woke to more snow, and I had wanted to take some photos of Willie with the clump of tiny daffodils blooming in the upper garden. The snow was melting fast.... The daffodils are super tiny, and came in a gift basket from a niece last spring. Then after the flowers faded, we planted all the bulbs from that basket into the garden, and promptly forgot about them. So I was surprised to see the tiny doll-sized flowers blooming this spring....
We had another dusting of snow overnight, and even though there was way less, I was feeling somewhat better, so decided to take advantage before the sun melted it all, and try take one of the scenes I'd wanted to do yesterday. So I put a warm cloak on Bianca so she could go out and inspect the snow on the scillas at one end of my backyard. Another way to shoot photos of dolls posed on the ground, without actually having to get down on the ground with them, yet still make it look like you are shooting on their level, is to shoot from a standing position some distance away using a telephoto lens. Unfortunately it's heavy and my hands shake while holding it, and I should have set the camera at a higher ISO, so many of the photos ended up too blurry. And of course with the sun about to come up over the house and melt the snow, there was no second chance to reshoot anything. So they are what they are.....
We were supposed to get snow overnight, and sure enough when I was up once in the night, it was snowing, and it looked beautiful out there. I could hardly get back to sleep thinking of all the interesting doll photos I could take in the morning. But at breakfast my back pain got so bad that I could only manage a trip around the garden to take some photos of the snow-covered flowers..... I really wish that I'd been able to take some doll photos in it, since snow in April is so rare, but it's a good thing that I didn't waste my time last night, putting winter clothes on any dolls in anticipation of the snow. It would have been for nothing.
Now the sun is out and most of it has already melted. Several little girls came into the flower shop one day. It was their Mom's birthday and they wanted to get her some flowers.... "What should we get?" Cinnamon was drawn to the pussy willows.... "I'll take these..." Hope was having trouble choosing.... ...then chose a small bouquet of roses... Raillie had also chosen some roses.... Missy and Talyssa were waiting for the others to pay for their flowers...
I had knit Hope a new sweater, in paler, more muted colours, and since we were going to take photos in the Sciilas, I took her along...
Today, April 18th, is 'Pet Owner's Day', so a bunch of my little pet owners got together - along with their pets - so I could take some group photos.....
I've been so busy taking new photos lately that I've fallen way behind in filing Blog posts into Favourite Photos albums. I was just tackling the story about Winston in the Flower Shop. There's so many fun photos that make me smile. I don't think I ever shared how Winston was able to actually carry all those flowers as he was leaving the shop. After all, he's just a very lightweight cloth dragon, and certainly wasn't capable of actually carrying anything that wasn't as light as he was. And those fancy flower arrangements were quite heavy. So I used two of my small size doll stands, one to hold up each arrangement. The basket of flowers was also supported by one of the doll stands. Winston actually only carried the two lightweight bouquets..... Then I took my photos cropped in so the stands wouldn't show.... or took them from an angle where the stands were mostly hidden. Anyways, Winston Buying Flowers is now up as an album in Favourite Photos.
