I use my dining room table as my interior photo studio. But I don't always use background walls. If I want a realistic modern interior with some background depth, I often won't use any of my foam core walls. Just my doll scale fireplace. My dining room has French doors, which are always open. The room opens into the main hall, with the front door area visible on the right, and the stairwell into the basement on the left... I find this set up without any prop walls gives a more realistic feel to the doll's room... ...and looks so much better than if I'd used some of my foam core walls. That suddenly screams "doll room"

With walls, the set looks good. Without walls, it is perfect.

Most people would be happy with the 'wall' version, but it's just too lifeless for me. Although I have used them on occasion, when they suit whatever the set may be, and then some artwork helps.
