Wedding Day

We had been exploring Fogo Island in the fog and rain that morning...

Something suggested this would be the perfect place for a wedding. I hadn't really planned one, but I'd been thinking the past few days, that back in the 18th century it would have seemed improper for two young adults like Rex and Bianca to be travelling together without a chaperone.
Unless they were married.

So okay.....I went out looking for some tiny flowers for a bouquet, while they got dressed in their finest clothes. Then after the ceremony, I took some photos....

They seemed very happy.
Now I had to come up with some ideas to fill in the blanks. Like, when did they decide to get married? Did he propose?  Where, and when? Did they go on a honeymoon? But I still had two weeks to figure it out. That's the advantage of shooting a story like a movie - totally out of sequence, to be pieced together later.

Oh how wonderful! I love that they are now married. The historic church was the perfect location for the nuptials.

What period of time do they represent? I am trying to imagine what their life would have been like?

I was as surprised as anyone. Dolls do have a mind of their own sometimes.

I imagine them being somewhere towards the end of the 1700's. I was inspired by the Outlander series, and that takes place in the 1700's. I knew Newfoundland has a several historic places dating from back then, and Cape Breton Island has the Fortress of Louisbourg, which dates from 1745.

Romantic and beautiful - Rex and Bianca, the setting, the idea, everything!

When you arrange all the photos for the story, you will have a lovely, historical romance - a treat for all of us who are hopeless romantics :o)

Thanks! That church dates from the 1700's - although it burned and was rebuilt several times since then - and I thought it would be perfect.

This is my first time doing something blatantly romantic. Well, second actually, if you count their encounter in the scillas this past spring. Or third, if you go back to them starring in the Phantom.

These two dolls are just made for each other.

Lovely wedding photos. I don't know if you have access to Outlander on television--or have read the books--but in the series two characters are handfast to one another. It's a promise that they will wed within a year and was often made when there was no priest or church available where they lived. Presumably Rex and Bianca could have made such a promise to each other and are now fulfilling their vow with a proper ceremony.

Yes, I've watched the series, but didn't read the books. I wasn't trying to recreate the characters, even though their outfits are inspired by them, so it never even occurred to me to consider what they did in the TV storyline. After all my characters aren't in Scotland (or America). But I did eventually shoot their engagement on the final day on Newfoundland, which wasn't for another two weeks or so.

Eventually everything will end up in the proper order.

Yes, Roger and Brianna were handfast to each other, but it never even occurred to me, since I wasn't referencing Outlander.

I had never heard of "handfasting" so I just did a Google search. What a cool idea. Thanks for the history lesson.

Your characters' mode of dress suggests recent emigration from Scotland, so I assumed they were in Canada, maybe by way of Nova Scotia. It seems reasonable to expect that they would be familiar enough with the custom of handfasting to carry it to the New World.

I love them - such a perfect romantic couple. Your photos (as always) are very beautiful.

Thanks! I love them too. In fact it's probably a good thing that Iplehouse didn't come out with this 'Fun' size until recently, or I may never have gone for all the others first.
