Very Busy.....

8/21/2019

I'm working on a whole pile of different stuff, all at the same time.  I'm working on four more 'Outlander' style sets (all spoken for) and even though I'm close to finishing the clothes....
Picture
...all the handwork items will still take some time. It takes at least a week (between other stuff) to knit a shawl, and then there's still the arm warmers, the hand-hemmed fichu, and the leather bags. I'm more than halfway with the 'first' shawl.

I decided to try and salvage the first shawl I knit on our trip. I didn't realize it was a thinner yarn, so it knit up too small. It seemed a waste to not be able to use it, so I'd been trying to figure out how to make it bigger, and decided to just crochet some extra stripes along the bottom, before outlining everything in black. So, now there's two almost done!

At some point I may tackle the 'Outlander' wedding outfits, so I've been on the search for just the right tartan. The one they use in the TV series is not an authentic 'Fraser' tartan, but something else, which they've modified and copyrighted. I've seen several attempts at Jamie's wedding outfit in doll size, and usually it has a blue tartan, but the one in the series isn't blue. It's brown and gray. It just looks blue under certain lighting conditions.

I've even tried dying some...using blue dye to kill the bright orange in the tartan below.  It's uneven, but might be usable. But the search goes on.

In the meantime, my little Kaye Wiggs girls are standing around waiting for swimsuits....
Picture
They will be going to either the beach, or a pool party soon, so Tillie and Missy tried on the BID and KID ones, but they are too baggy....with way too wide leg holes...
Picture
Cinnamon and Talyssa think I should be focussing on making Missy a Fairy costume instead. It's almost the end of August and fall is coming soon, and they still want to have a Flower Fairy party..
Picture
And if all that isn't enough, I need to make some bedding for a Victorian cradle.....

So, what am I doing here, wasting my time at the computer!?!?
Better get back to it!!

Wow, there are a ton of things going on in your house. I think Missy will be a darling fairy.

A Victorian cradle. Hmmm, that must mean that a baby is on the way.

I can't wait to see how you create the Outlander wedding outfits.

There always is!

Back on Valentine's Day, my Isis told Steve that they were going to have another baby, so it's about time for that.

Outlander wedding outfits may just have to wait until next year. I'd want to take photos of them at the estate in Oshawa, since it looks about the right time period, but it would have to be before they clear out their gardens in fall, and I have no idea when they do that. So the only way to get them done before then would be to start immediately, but I have too much other stuff I want, or need, to do first.

Whaou ! You have a lot of work planned ! I feel lazy when I see all the clothes you make ! The shawls are awesome; I'm in the process of making one. Your work inspire me but I'm way behind you. Have a good day! Hi from South of France.

Yes, and that's not even half of it. There's also some birthday parties to shoot, and at least one new Victorian gown to make.

You have so many projects on the go it is dizzying! I love the way you make photos of work underway as attractive and interesting as all your other photos.

Sometimes it is dizzying, esp now with so many things underway.

I try take under construction photos every now and then just to remind people these things don't just magically happen on their own. I'm STILL working through the trip photos, which means I have more time to work on other things. Although new photo ideas are starting to pop up, and it's been months since I shot anything here at home.....so.....

Looks like a long list of great projects. Please don't stress yourself too much, it should be fun, not work.

I love your under construction photos too.

That is a brilliant fix for the shawl! Makes it even better!!! I like to be busy, too. But your amount of projects makes me seem like a slacker! :-)

Thanks! The crocheted edging worked really well, so now I can use that shawl for one of the outfits.

It just looks like I'm super productive because I can't really do much else these days. Even things like simple housework is too strenuous for me. Now with Jan retired, he looks after most of it, including making meals. So, technically, I'm the one whose a 'slacker', and that's why I can do so much doll work.
