Update on Jan

4/2/2020

With the hospital locked down, and Jan still needing help to use his phone, it's a real challenge to get much information.

On Monday his Covid19 test came back Negative, but they said the test has a 24% false negative rate, so swabbed him again. This time the results took only one day, and it came back Negative again. At least that's some good news.

So they did an MRI, and yesterday they wanted to inject him with radioactive dye for a more detailed scan, because they are trying to figure out why he had a stroke. He also needs to see a cardiologist because his heart enzymes continue to be elevated. We've not heard results of any of the tests.

His nurse said that Jan's chest is clear after his pneumonia treatments, but he still has a bad cough. He is somewhat shaky on his feet, so they make him use a walker, but he's not allowed out of bed without supervision. He said he complained that it wasn't fair.

I did talk to him on the phone, and on Sunday he sounded much like his old self, but yesterday his voice sounded really bad, like he was very sick. He said his hands felt awful, that they are peeling after the bad rash he had from the Hand, Foot and Mouth disease this all started with over three weeks ago.

Last week Mike was able to deliver things for Jan to the screening station at the hospital, to be delivered to him, but this week the hospital has cracked down and nothing is allowed in anymore, unless it can be wiped down with disinfectant. In other words no food or artwork.  So the grandkid's art and get Well Cards are piling up here at home for whenever he gets released, and we have no idea as to when that will be.

Today is our 43rd wedding anniversary.

Dear Martha, at last some good news, no Corona. And he ca walk, speak and know who you are. That’s very good. And it’s sure difficult not to visiting him but it’s a good thing for his safety. We have a hole hospital under quarantine now because one patient came undetected with Corona in and over 60 doctors and nurses may be infected. Keep save, stay healthy and be hopeful, a better time will come, your next anniversaries will sure be wonderful.

Dear Martha, first, what a wonderful photo. You and Jan look so lovely. I am guessing that you made the dresses. They are very pretty, as is your gown.

Please let Jan know that your readers are praying for him. We are sending blessings to you and to him.

Thank you.

No My Mom and I went out and bought my wedding dress. I remember it was around $100, and seemed so incredibly expensive at that time. My sister's Maid of Honour dress was also store bought, but my Mom sewed the three Flower Girl dresses for my youngest sister, and two cousins.

Happy anniversary! I'm sorry it has to be spent this way. It sounds like there is at least a little good news, though.

Happy Anniversary! I love the wedding photo. I'm sure you and Jan will celebrate when he leaves the hospital.

Such great news that Jan doesn't have COVID-19. I'm glad to hear he's complaining--that's always a good sign that a patient is on the mend.

Happy Anniversary! Although you can't be together right now, at least the negative Covid-19 results are somewhat of a celebration. Sounds like Jan is really ready to do what it takes to get back home with you. Sending good thoughts & encouragement to you both.

That's some good news--no virus and clear lungs! But still you must be going crazy not knowing specifics about the stroke and heart conditions. A very worrisome and difficult time for you!

Congratulations on your 43rd anniversary! Love the photo! Jan will get better and you two will go on to a splendid 50th!!!

We had always expected that the tests would come back negative, and it was so frustrating that it took so long, because it meant more than a week's delay in finally being able to do the tests for his more important stroke and heart symptoms. I just hope the long delay hasn't allowed things to worsen during the wait, therefore impacting any potential recovery.

Good news that he didn't have the virus on top of everything else. Also sounds like he may be on the way to recovery. You and your family are in my prayers. God Bless!
