Under Construction

I'm back to making food for upcoming photo stories.  All three of my Mini Kaye Wiggs girls are celebrating their one year anniversaries this year.  I already shot Missy's birthday, and am in the process of sharing photos from her party.  But this week Layla also has her birthday.  I thought I'd throw her a pizza party, so decided to make a pizza out of polymer clay...

It was handy that I actually had some leftover slices of pizza from lunch, so I could colour match all the various toppings, since the colours were way more dull and muted than one would expect.

I'm also in the middle of making some food for my White Cat story - delicacies only a cat would enjoy.  Like cheese crawling with mice....

I had to re-varnish the cheese platter since the 'matte' varnish I used dried too shiny.  It's interesting that my 'satin' varnish dries almost flat in comparison.

I want to make some more little fancy petit-fours, hence the bowl of little squares of wood wrapped with florist tape. The little wooden squares act as interior support, and the florist tape helps the polymer clay stick to them.

Then after rushing to make a pizza so I could shoot Layla's birthday party, I changed my mind, and decided to take advantage of the nice weather, so she will get a birthday BBQ instead.  Now Hope will get a pizza party in November when her birthday rolls around.

Yum! That looks good enough to eat! If you posted a photo of it by itself, everyone would think it was a real pizza!

Thanks. I was pretty impressed myself. The toppings all turned out perfect. The crust is a little dark, but then I prefer my pizza well done.

Oh my goodness, the pizza looks real. And the petit-fours look delicious. The children are really going to enjoy themselves.

And and a barbeque sounds like a great idea for a party. I can't wait to see the festivities.

Yes, various kids are going to enjoy the new foods - well not that cheese, but it isn't for them anyways.

Layla's party may not show up[ for a little while yet. I'm trying to take advantage of the weather whenever it's a good day, to photograph anything that needs to be shot outside, since there may not be many left.
