Tiny Leg Warmers

1/20/2018

I'm in the middle of trying to put an outfit together for my Butterfly Narae, and I love the look of the really colourful 'Boho' Fair Isle leg warmers that I see on Facebook.  So I decided to make some.  I chose needle punch yarn in all the colours in my girl's floral print top....

It's a nice little project now that I'm sick, and I'm almost finished the knitting.  However, I'm not at all looking forward to sewing in all the yarn ends

Very nice... and a tribute to your patience :o) Can't wait to see the "artsy" outfit you're making for your Butterfly Narae.

Get well soon!

Thanks! They have been quite a challenge. Several times last night I had to undo whole rows of stitches because I messed up the pattern. Being sick seems to throw me off. This evening I get to sew in all those ends. That has to be the worst part of these Fair Isle patterns.

I'm going for a completely new style of 'modern' outfit unlike anything I've made before. It's not turning out quite like I had imagined it. But I need to wait until I'm done to make a final judgement, since most things don't look quite right when they are at this stage.

Her wig needs a bit of work too - it's a homemade mohair wig and has some bulges from the hot glue. I carefully applied a hot iron to smooth them down. And she needs her arms wired, because she has very 'kinky' elbows.

This year isn't starting out so well, but I do keep trying.

There were over 40 loose ends to sew in on each leg warmer. Listening to TV made the job seem to go faster.

I am in awe of your skill. Knitting, knitting intricate patterns, and knitting on a tiny scale, no less! And please let me add my get well wishes.

I, too, have become a bit obsessed by the fair isle leg warmers on FB, and have been trying to find a pattern I can use. May I ask where you found the pattern you are using?
