Time to Go

Owen & Leona lived in a beautiful, big Victorian home. But it held a secret. Up in the master bedroom there stood an old wardrobe. It was ancient, and had been in the family for generations. It might have been hundreds of years old. No one really knew.

But it was no ordinary wardrobe. With a special key, it would open a portal to times gone by. Leona and Iris knew about it from a young age, and after Iris married Steve, they decided they wanted to live a simpler life, and moved their family back to Victorian times.  In fact they live in the same Victorian house as Owen and Leona, just a hundred and fifty years apart.

With everyone dressed and ready to go, Owen opened the door and Leona passed him the key...

My but the family has gone to a lot of work to have this birthday adventure. It’s fascinating being the fly on the wall watching the preparations. Happy travels.

I thought it might be fun to show them getting ready, as opposed to just shooting the actual party. After doing thirty four birthday parties, I really needed to do something new.

Plus the baby's birthday is important to them since they are close family. Leona and Iris are sisters, and Owen and Steve are brothers.

Thanks. I was trying to think of some kind of 'time machine', but decided I liked the idea of a wardrobe better.

Love these! Amazing set and furnishings. Especially love Steve's posing climbing into the wardrobe. And, of course, the dolls and outfits along with their beautiful wigs are fantastic.

Thanks. I also thought it would look interesting with Owen partway into the wardrobe. (Owen and Steve are brothers, and the only difference is their hair colour and facial hair. Plus Owen is wearing Steve's coat, so the confusion is understandable. )

What a wonderful idea - a special wardrobe that opens back into another time. The golden light coming from inside the wardrobe really adds to the magic. I love this story!

Thanks. I had wanted to show them going into some kind of 'time machine', but decided on a wardrobe. I always loved the CS Lewis books, and I already had a wardrobe, so, decision made.....

C.S. Lewis' Narnia series was the first thing I thought of :o)
I loved those books too.

I wanted the wardrobe to look 'magical', with some kind of glow coming from inside it, so duct-taped a string of Christmas lights inside it.

What a fun story. The wardrobe is absolutely beautiful.

I liked seeing the family preparing to go and then climbing inside of the portal.

This is a perfect story for these times when we all wish we could travel to a safer time in history.

I can't wait to read the rest of the story and see baby Sena. She is such a cutie.

Thanks. I got that cupboard from my granddaughters when they were getting rid of their doll stuff. I've used it before in other stories, but it wasn't tall enough to be a wardrobe that the adults could fit into, so Jan added an addition underneath to make it taller.

Yes, it would be nice to escape sometimes.

Anyways, stay tuned.....the story will continue tomorrow.
