This Land is My Land

This morning I was reminded of the famous song which we all learned when we were growing up..

This land is your land, This land is my land,
From Bonavista, to Vancouver Island
From the Arctic Circle to the Great Lakes waters,
This land was made for you and me.

I realized my dolls have been many places in this great country of ours, and they even celebrated Canada Day at Cape Bonivista last year. So I thought it might be fun to go back through the archives and pull out some photos of the great Canadian places my dolls have been...

from Cape Bonavista Newfoundland...
Picture
...to Vancouver Island, and Pacific Rim National Park....
Picture
...from the Arctic circle (or Labrador, which is close enough)....
Picture
..to the Great Lakes Waters.....(Lake Ontario)...
Picture
Picture
.....Lake Superior....
Picture
....Lake Huron....
Picture
From the easternmost point in North America, at Cape Spear Newfoundland....
Picture
..to the sandy beaches along the rocky Pacific coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia...
Picture
..and all the glorious places in between - like the majestic Rockies of Banff and Jasper in Alberta....
Picture
...the stunning Icefields Parkway....
Picture
...and Waterton Lakes National Park in southern Alberta...
Picture
...and we can't forget the Maritimes on the east coast...Peggy's Cove....
Picture
...icebergs drifting by on the Labrador current off Newfoundland....
Picture
..and we can't forget the legacy of our First Nations people....
Picture
...Canada, from sea, to sea, to sea, a wonderful place I call home.

Your photography is as amazing as your sewing skills! And I had no idea there was a Canadian version of that song; I'd always heard it as an American song referring to places in the USA. I wonder which version came first.

Thanks! Yes, there is a Canadian version, but the American one is the original. It came out in the 40's, and the Canadian version - which pretty much just has the first and last verses rewritten with Canadian landmarks - was released in 1955.

Thank you for this great post. Your boys and girls are really amazing (to say nothing of your great suits). But the photos you make are also outstanding - they make me feel as if I have also been there with your girls.

*gasp*

And that is what I do when I see these photos. What a wonderful way to show the rest of the world, the land you love.

A belated Happy Canada Day to you ((^_^))
