the Woodcutter's Cottage

12/13/2020

I'm working on a new set of background walls for an upcoming Christmas story....the woodcutter's cottage.  I want something rustic, with a Fantasy/Tudor style, with a stone wall at the bottom, and wooden beams above, with aged stucco in between.....
Picture
The two walls sections have been under-painted, and still need the stucco texturing and the 'stone' blocks on the bottom. The thick cardboard 'timber's' have been cut and painted.  Now I need to sand them all to remove all the rough edges, and after touching up all the paint, they can be glued in place.  I also need to make a matching surround for the top of the fireplace, and a little tree in that room that needs decorating, with rustic, homemade-looking decorations.
So, still lots to do.

Looking forward to seeing this new background completed. I especially enjoy glimpses like this into how you create your “magic”. Thanks

That's why I take pictures.

I love the behind the scenes photo. I can't wait to see what the story will be.

It's a brand new Christmas story, and I may just start posting it after Christmas, after all the Holiday Smiles for the day are done. But it depends on when I get done. All the outdoor scenes have been shot, and now I still have to do all the interiors.

Oh I can't wait to see how this turns out! I really like the idea of this sort of project. Maybe someday I'll get brave and try making a backdrop. As always, thanks for the inspiration!

The walls are quite a bit of work, but add so much to a scene. This is my fourth set, and it will be used for a woodcutter's cottage first. Later it can be used for all kinds of things, including an exterior.

It is so interesting to watch the process from start to finish! The magic happens right before our eyes. I'm really looking forward to this new story!
