Muffy Mouse was thrilled to be chosen to play the part of the Sugarplum Fairy in this year's Nutcracker....

But who was going to be her Nutcracker Prince?

"Which of you is my Prince?"

Finally one stepped forward....

But he turned out to be a rather'wooden' dancer.....

'To think I took all those ballet lessons for this!?!?'

Thank you. They were all purchased blank, and I painted them all. Jan actually made the two really big ones.

I must confess, when I first saw the pic of her standing in front of the Nutcracker Assembly I thought she might have been leading them in song.

I share a deep abiding love for Nutcrackers, but I have so many other "weaknesses" that I force myself to be very very choosy and pass up quite a I few I know I'd enjoy. Yours are wonderful. :)

That was Jan's suggestion as well - to make the nutcrackers be a choir. But it was too hard to make them all open their mouths.

I painted all those nutcrackers myself, years ago, back when I still had lots of time, before I got into doll photography.

Amazing you mentioned that! I actually brought home a half dozen small Nutcrackers that are unpainted or painted in solid colours (what is up with THAT?!?) to hopefully be able to work on before next Christmas. Now I have to pour over your pics for ideas and see if I have any hope of doing anything decent with mine.

If you want a closer look at my nutcrackers, they appear periodically in Christmas photos - like in 2010, 2012, and 2014.
