June 17th was 'Global Garbage Man Day', and falling on a Thursday, which is our real garbage and recycling day, I decided to follow Owen (who was temporarily helping out at the local waste disposal department) as he made his rounds around town.....

Thanks. I would have liked a shot with an actual garbage truck as well, but felt too self-conscious to do that when they went past our house.

I love this. He looks so real. My favorite is No 4. Haha, if everyone would fold their old newspapers so neatly and recycle so carefully, the guys would certainly appreciate it.

Thanks. I thought he looked very convincing as a garbage man as well. yes, I'm sure theirs isn't an easy job.

I keep those folded newspapers in a zip lock baggie just in case I ever need them. I emptied the 'garbage bags' and folded them up to save for next time as well. Saves having to redo stuff.

I love how everything looks so real, even the compost bin! Steve looks like he takes his job very seriously.

I agree with ResinRapture about how neat the recycling piles are. Drives me crazy when I see what people consider acceptable recycling.

Thanks. I always aim for 'realism', and that compost bin is actually full of the real thing - shredded banana peel, dead flowers, and crushed egg shells. Well, only the top. There's a plastic bag stuffed inside so I wouldn't need quite as much.
