the Eclipse

4/9/2024

Yesterday much of North America experienced a solar eclipse, and several of my kids were out there taking it in as well...

They had acquired a package of eclipse glasses...

We were in the path of totality, but just as the big event was about to occur, the heavy clouds moved in. Fortunately we were still able to see the eclipse each time a hole appeared in the clouds.

It got dark as night, and the street lights came on...

Then we watched the dark shadow of the moon pass to the east....

...and the light return to the west...

It was quite the experience!

Very cool. I also think it’s fun the kids all brought their dogs along.

I did this back in 2017 during the last solar eclipse. Several of my dolls got to experience it and so did our dog at the time. Our dog was not so amused when the sun itself “lost power” for a few seconds. She never did like it when the lights went out unexpectedly. This time we were not in the path of the eclipse, but we heard plenty about it.

What a great story! I love the glasses.

I watched some of it on TV. We were not in the direct line so there was a bit less excitement. I think it was remarkable.

I am glad that the BIDs, the big kids, and the dogs had fun and saw history in the making!

The photos are wonderful!! Love all the kids and dogs with their eclipse glasses on. Holly was a very protective pet owner too 😊

I really liked your photos of the eclipse itself. As the moon's shadow moved east from you, it arrived shortly after here in Montreal where our skies were clear. We had a great view during the time of totality. It is an incredible experience.

Thanks. It had been heavy cloud all day and we weren't actually expecting to see anything at all, but went down to the lake anyways. Thankfully there were occasional thin spots in the clouds so we got to see occasional glimpses of the eclipse, although not when it was totality.

You were lucky to have had clear skies. That must have been quite the experience.
