the Cathedral

Baron and Naomi headed out along the north shore...

To the town of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré...

...with its magnificent cathedral...

"It reminds me so much of the cathedral back home."

Then they took a little walk through town...

"I think it's time to head back to the hotel."

What a magnificent cathedral. I can see why it would call up thoughts of their recent wedding cathedral.

They seem to feel at home in the city. It is the perfect place for their honeymoon.

The basilica is an important shrine, and has been credited by the Catholic Church with many miracles of curing the sick and disabled.

People from all around the world come to visit the basilica. Pillars in the front entrance are covered in crutches from people who are said by the parishioners to have been miraculously cured and saved.

It is an important Catholic sanctuary, which receives about a half-million pilgrims each year. The Pope gave a mass there last year when he came to Canada.

The basilica is surrounded by a sprawling complex, and there's even a tent and trailer park on the river across the road, for visitors to stay at (where we stayed for two nights) Thankfully the hourly cathedral bells stop ringing in the evening, so it was quiet through the night.

Thanks for sharing this information. I did not know about this cathedral. It is definitely impressive. I am going to go online and look for photos of the crutches.

I love that you not only teach us about dolls and photography and fashion but you also teach us about history and current events.
