The Big Snow

1/19/2022

We had a huge dumping of snow Sunday night into Monday, and are finally getting everything cleared off. Environment Canada issued a 'Blizzard Warning' for our area - the first time that I can even remember. We got well over 40 cm of snow...

So Monday morning the shovelling began....

The neighbour's cars....

Everyone was told to stay home, but some people ventured out anyways....and promptly got stuck in the middle of the road....

Piles along the sidewalk reached almost two meters.....

I had been excited to get snow, since we'd had hardly any so far this winter, and I had several doll photo shoots planned. But there was just WAY too much snow.

Now two days later, with the temperature up above freezing, we needed to do some last minute clearing before the bottom falls out of the temperature tonight turning everything into solid ice.

Two little girls came out to help....

The road was plowed yesterday, and with the 'warmer' temperature today, it was finally clear....

Most people had cleared their sidewalks so they were clear too....

...well not in this direction....

But there was still plenty up the front walk to the house that needed moving....

The girls decided that shovelling this much snow was definitely no fun....

You got twice as much as we did! Your wish for some good snow for photos certainly came true.

Your little girls have a BIG job ahead of them. They could use Ringo, Efreet and Coco's snow shoveling service to help them. Actually they could use all your dolls to help them :o)

Yes, I saw on the news that you were spared the worst of it.

I had been hoping for a couple of cms, with it laying nicely on the branches, which would have been perfect for pictures, but got this ridiculous dump instead. I know, I'm never happy. Too bad one can't put in an order with mother Nature.

Now that we are back in the deep freeze, all the snow piles are hard as rock, so no one's moving anything.

I had to do the math conversion. You got over 15 inches of snow! Wow, that is a ton of snow, especially when it is banked.

It's a good thing that you had some little helpers. I bet you had mugs of hot chocolate waiting for them when they returned.

Yes, it was a LOT. Way more than we've had in years. The untouched 'flat' snow was well over the knees, and after the plow went past, the piles on the end of the driveway were waist high.

I do love a good snowfall, but this was the first time I was actually also disappointed because there is way too much for nice doll photos.
