Sunset at Rose Blanche

7/18/2019

We were out at the Rose Blanche lighthouse taking photos at sunset on the rocks there, the night before the arrival of a big storm. I thought the lighthouse walls would make a good background...
Picture
Then the sun came out from behind the clouds, casting a golden glow over everything...

I decided to take some photos from behind, with them looking towards the sun....
Picture
Then a shot from the other side....
Picture
...and a true sunset shot...

My trusty helper shaded the dolls from the sun between photos. He was all bundled up with parka and gloves in order to stay warm....because it was very COLD.....
Picture
...and one last photo as the sun sank below the horizon....

Oh,Martha, these are so beautiful!

With everything bathed in warm, golden sunlight, you would never know how cold it really was without the behind-the-scenes photo of Jan.

Thanks! I was really happy to have taken these, as I was feeling very down about the impending bad weather. In addition to all the rain and wind, there were supposed to be highs of 4C the next couple of days up north where we had wanted to go. Way too cold, so we had to change our plans. Good thing too, since the area was hit with record rainfall, and one of the roads we took several weeks later was still being repaired after a wash-out.

Just when you think the scene can't be any more perfect, the changing light makes each photo better than the last.

Thanks! I find at that time of day the lighting is constantly changing, so I keep taking more photos.

I hope people don't mind all the 'similar' photos, because it's hard to choose just one, since in my opinion they all say something different.

Oh, Martha, I love these photos! They are so romantic.
My favorite is the one, before the sun dips low, where Rex has his arm around her. Ahhhh, sweet love.
Of course I like the behind the scenes shot too (smile).
