St. Nicholas

Today is St. Nicholas Eve in several European countries, including the Netherlands where I'm originally from.  Over the past few years I've taken many doll photos featuring my old St. Nicholas figure. One of these days I plan on making my Wizard (Santa) a St. Nicholas costume, but until then, I will just share some of the older photos from my archives....

Back in 2011, when I only had two tiny dolls - Elin and Cinnamon
(St. Nicholas doesn't actually have elves, but in my imaginary doll world he did)

Then a year later, when the number of elves had grown to five.....

Then again in 2014, when things turned a bit more 'traditional',
with the story 'A Visit from St. Nicholas'

Dear Martha,

What lovely photos!

I am going to do a Google search for St. Nicholas Eve as I don't know about it.

Who is the doll in the second photo that St. Nicholas is touching? She doesn't look like an Iplehouse. I like her pretty blue eyes.

I love the last photo where St. Nicholas is giving Ringo a special gift marked with an R. I bet Ringo is smiling (chuckle).

I think you mean Kaye Wiggs Tillie in the second photo. I only had three IH BIDs at that time - Elin, Nami & Byuri

He's giving Ringo a chocolate letter. It's traditional to get a chocolate in the shape of the first initial of your name.

Oh, now I see. She is a Kaye Wiggs doll.

Oh so Ringo is getting a chocolate. That should make him happy (chuckle).

Maybe read the story about 'A Visit from St. Nicholas'. The link is there in green. That will explain a lot more.

By the way, St. Nicholas (who really existed) is the original inspiration for the American Santa, as described in the poem by Clement Moore.

I love your St. Nicholas photos, as well as the background you give on the tradition being portrayed.

Just like Dorothy, I can "see" the big smile on Ringo's face as St. Nicholas hands him his chocolate letter :o)
