Some Old Books

I've not been particularly motivated the past two weeks, but did start making a couple of books for a setting that I'll need at some point. I googled 'making a Wizard's Book', and like usual, there's all kinds of information to be found online.

The one that inspired me, had me cut out all the double pages, fold them into 'signatures' and hand-stitch them together. Then the cloth inner cover was glued on, and the whole thing dipped into diluted brown paint and shaped into an open book....and left to dry. Then the cover was made and glued on. The video is for a 1/12th scale open book, but I made mine bigger, with more stitching. But the basic techniques are still the same....

For the book on the upper left, I actually printed out the story pages the right size, before cutting them out and sewing them into signatures.  The bottom book has a page from one of Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks printed out the right size, and then glued into the middle of the open book.

They look so real! And well used by their "owners". Your attention to details is always impressive.

Thanks. They are intended to be books for my Wizard. I already had lots of miniature books, but those are all nice, new ones that might work in a bookcase in the background, but I needed some really old, well-worn ones for on his workspace - and that will show up in close-ups.

These books look perfect for the Wizard. I am sure that he will find all of the important information he needs in their pages.

I think he will. The book with just the fine print is the story of how the situation happened in the first place, so that should prove helpful

The books looks so real, as if they where used over years.
My very first imagination was Winston studying them, tiny glasses on his nose, a claw following the lines. Now i'm really nosey about your setting. It will be stunning, i'm very sure about that.

Have fun and please remain as well and fit as possible.

Well, Winston will be helping the Wizard, so it's a possibility. Good idea in fact. it will still be a while before that setting is needed, and then it will be even longer before the photos get posted.

I'm working on processing the photos for a story I started shooting back in March, and although I am making some headway, I'm not ready to start posting any of it yet.
