The ribbon arrived the other day - all nicely wound on cute little spools.....
One used to be able to buy silk ribbon at most doll or needlework shows, but they aren't to be found anywhere around here anymore, and I've been running out of a lot of colours over the years. So I recently went through my silk ribbon stash and decided to order some of the used up colours. I searched online, for colours and prices, and ended up ordering from 'Thread Art' in the USA. They only have 50 colours to choose from, but at least it's a good start.

Thank you for the tip on where to get ribbon. It seems in my stores they are carrying fewer and fewer colors when I visit.

Beautiful colours! Thanks for the tip for a place to order individual spools! I've ordered from Abby's House of Fashion on eBay where the prices per spool are about the same. Unfortunately they only sell collections of colours, both a variety of colours and families of shades, but not individual spools. So it's really nice to have a place to order exactly the colour you want!

This is my favourite site for silk ribbon here in the UK. They have quite a wide selection. They do send internationally but I don't know if that would involve custom charges anywhere.

Thanks for the link. They do have some very nice colours, especially the hand-dyed ones, but again, are considerably more expensive than the ribbon I purchased.

That was one of the sites I bookmarked. They do indeed have amazing colour selection, but their prices at $4.50 for a 5 yard spool of 4mm ribbon, are more than double where I ordered my ribbon from

But they do have the kinds of colours I remember from years ago. All those soft subtle hues, and not just the basic colours.

JoAnn's sells it through their online site, but it is Really Expensive and they only sell the narrow stuff in tiny bags for way more than I would want to pay. Comments are closed.
