I'm trying to start a hard-cap wig for my Santa. I'm still calling him 'Santa' as long as we aren't past Christmas. If I don't get him done by then, his name will change to 'Wizard'. Anyway, I'm trying the method described in the Whispering Grass tutorial. She uses layers of tulle with polyurethane glue. But I don't have that kind of glue, so am using Gem Tac. It's washable when dry, so should hold together when styling a wig. Only problem is getting the glue to hold on the tulle, as there really isn't a lot of 'surface' for the glue to stick to. Relaxing at the spa....

Well Santa certainly looks really relaxed at the spa! LOL! Good luck in getting him ready this side of Christmas *fingers crossed*

I'm seriously on the fence about whether I should just keep trying, or just put him aside right now and work on him again in January. There's still so many things I'd like, and need, to do, and there really isn't much time.

This time of year is already super stressful, and I don't want to do a rush job, so I'm trying to convince myself to just put him on hold.

I think that is a good idea! So I am going to call him Wizard for the rest of this year!

A hard-cap wig does look like an interesting challenge, but I have no doubt that you'll pull it off and your wig will be wonderful!

He really does need a hard-cap wig, but it's not working out very well, plus there's way too many other things that need doing. I think I'll undo his Glad wrap so he can breathe again, and continue working on him AFTER everything else is done. Probably in January. Then he can be a Wizard first, and I'll have a whole year to make him some Santa duds.

He would make a a nice grandfather for all the little ones too. I can picture him sitting in a rocking chair with one of the BIDs on his lap and some of the others sitting at his feet listening to a story.

Yes, he can be their Grandpa too. In fact the fabrics I choose for Santa's casual wear would be perfect for a grandfather too. Comments are closed.
